  5. It’s a shame people are jumping into a car they aren’t sure about. I did the same with my current car, pure compromise through and through as was on a timeline. Regretted it ever since and never got used to it. On the other hand the Kona EV is everything I’ve ever wanted in a car except that it’s sized closer to a Cx-3 than a Cx-5 which would make it perfect. No such thing as perfect :p

I walked onto a lot in Langley, BC, told them we wished to buy a Kona, said we would be paying cash. We got our Kona in two days, off the lot, the the $10K rebates.

I don't know who is telling you guys 8 weeks. Here in montreal every dealer said it's a 9 month wait.

and in europe they are told it's more than a year wait.

anyway yesterday I walked into a dealer looking for a better trade-in for my cars and looking for a ioniq ultimate, and when I jokingly asked if they had any konas available they said they had two. So I bought one, and there was another guy with an appointment to buy one at the same time and other people walked in at the same time and started looking very intensely at the showroom kona.

so they had two yesterday and they are probably all gone now. I don't know how come they had them available, it's like finding a unicorn in montreal...

  9. The dealers were telling us 8-10 weeks :p. Multiple dealers in Ottawa said 8-10 weeks when discussing pricing/buying.

Were these ultimate or preferred models? I've seen a few dealers listing ultimates in stock (either Hyundai shipped too many or more people bought preferred than expected).

Lucky you with the immediate availability!

Mine was Ultimate. There is at least one other in Sudbury. They picked theirs up as I was buying mine. I believe there is one in Parry Sound, too. The Sudbury dealership has a test model, so I was able to drive it a few times before buying. I heard the wait list is closer to six months, now. And the price went up slightly!!

There was no question of trim, as soon as i i said kona they replied 9 months wait...

The konas the dealer had were all the preferred base model.

  13. In B.C. I have two friends who also ordered a Kona, my friend who ordered his last December got it in April, the friend who ordered in mid January after seeing mine is still waiting for delivery and is getting impatient.... :(

  14. Did he order a Preferred? When I got mine (end of April for May 1), there were a few Ultimates in stock at dealers, but no Preferreds.

We Ordered on May 20th, I was already told from the beginning that would be at the end of the year or January. Ordered the ultimate

  16. Reply to RP, they were both Ultimates.

  17. Doesn't make sense. At the end of April, just before the May 1 implementation of the subsidy, there were lots of Ultimates around. I know, because I was shopping several dealers here to get the best price. I even got the color I wanted (red). Of course they went pretty quickly once we passed May 1.

  18. That’s weird because when I ordered mine at the Victoria dealership May 3rd they said all of their Kona EV’s were factory order only and they required the deposit and confirmation of financing before they could submit the work order to Hyundai. They said Hyundai wasn’t permitting dealers to lot order vehicles. My guess is perhaps the “lots of vehicles on the lot” were people backing out of their orders from having to wait so long? The order delays have certainly been since the vehicle was announced last year and deliveries only occurred in Jan/Feb of this year...

Yes, since the May 1 I think all the inventory flew out. I have tried only a couple of dealerships in Coquitlam and PoCo, none available at the moment but different timeliness on when they’re getting them. I actually think they aren’t even sure themselves. But it also looks like they get hundreds of requests on the Kona EV... I wanted to see the actual colour as it’s hard to tell with the pictures (I’m looking for the lake silver and the blue one)

  20. I was told by two different dealers that they were not allowed to hold inventory, that they can only take orders. These are smaller dealers and if you are in a major center the rules may be different if you sell large volume? We got our car because it was ordered last year in July and when it came in the ordering customer decided not to take it. Just luck on our part seeing it parked out front, they had two that orders fell through on and they both sold in a day. The cars had arrived the day before, this was in mid January. We have since put 8000 km on it and can't say enough good things about it. Both my friends had to special order theirs and put a deposit down.

My dealer said the same. Not allowed to hold inventory. Required $1k down payment before orders were accepted. Mine could be a smaller dealer. Not sure how you define that.

Duncan dealer still says the preferred model delivery is expected end of July or early August. Ordered last week of April

I ordered the ultimate on April 24th. Was told delivery would be in early June. Its early June and the dealer has no VIN and more importantly no idea when this car will be produced and delivered. Said it could be in a few weeks or early next year.

Very upsetting news. May have to go with the Tesla M3 even though I want the kona. Being in BC I just wanted the 10K in rebates which may be unavailable in a few more weeks. BC rebate fund is nearly exhausted at this point.
