Hey, great news!! I’m still at the port. Not surprised though. They are going to install my black door handles at the off-load center before shipping north. You may be driving yours home real soon.

My dealership contacted me, I can take my delivery the earliest by tomorrow 1pm. But my sales person is off tomorrow and Wednesday, so we are going to take our delivery on Thursday. Yay!! I can wait two more days after I’ve waited for four months... :)

Wow, even faster than I was expecting. What happened to the full day “wake up?” Not sure I could wait two days knowing I could have it now.

Nice! I hope today and tomorrow fly by for you.

I'll be interested to hear how much time that adds. The dealer said that the bonnet stripes are usually added in port so I'll have a delay with that for myself.

Just found this thread but didn't bother reading all 31 pages of it.

I placed my order on October 11, and I currently have a build week in February 2021 (week 5, 2021). I guess I just need to distract myself with some good skiing this winter to help the time go by.

Wow - that is way above the average of 41 days ordered-to-production we have at the moment. I hope that date is wrong!

This may be the 'Brexit Transition Period End' pause that BMW spoke of earlier...

Oh crap. I had not heard that Brexit might affect the Mini factory. (I just googled) Here's hoping they can come to an agreement before Jan 1st. I'm trying to time out a Mini purchase for around April next year, but there are so many factors that can delay production, I'm going to need a crystal ball!!

Wow. I have not been given a build week yet and my order was placed on the 12th (dealership is closed on Sundays). They were expecting 8-12 weeks last told.

Maybe Google sucks for how I am searching, but I'm not seeing any news on this from this year.

This is what I saw last night referencing the Oxford plant. But nothing in the past few months.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2020-07-30/complex-local-customs-may-cause-confusion-brexit-bulletin

The part about Mini: "Even the famous Mini Cooper would be in the firing line. Only about 40% of the value of the parts in the iconic vehicle, made by BMW at its factory near Oxford, are produced in the U.K. Given that it would be virtually impossible for Mini to replace European-made parts with U.K.-made ones by Jan. 1, models exported from Britain would be on track to face a 10% tariff without an agreement on rules of origin. Price increases would be inevitable, with potential for reduced demand and therefore reduced production,” Graham Biggs, a spokesman for BMW, said in an email."

And another here: EDIT: Apologies - I misread the date - this is from 2018 - keeping the link but deleting the text.

Sorry, I meant Monday 10/12. I guess I'm ok with the car arriving next year (I'll enjoy it more going into spring than into winter). I'm worried about the price increase though. That's not insignificant.

One of those is 2 years old. I was wondering if there were articles recently hinting at a shut down. These are all about costs. They shut down last year this time for a few days but I cannot see where that had to do with a shut down.
I figure the build sheet with prices would be hard to go back on. That's not significant to me either though. When did you get your build date? It's not a huge issue to me, but I'd just like to know. I spoke with the dealer last week.

Sorry - I misread the date on the google results! I edited my post to note that second link is out of date!

I got my build week that Monday when I placed my order. I have only been in contact with the dealer once since, later that same week, to tweak some of the options.

I made a change to mine and called to get an updated build sheet. Since my sales person was out, the manager sent it to me and we spoke on Thursday. There was no mention of build week for me at all and thats when I was told still 8-12 weeks estimated. That they don't get a firm date until a few weeks after at least for production. Makes me wonder now. Where are you based (general region)? I have a Mini currently but this is my first time ordering.

RE: Brexit announcements... correct, the latest I could find was Sep 2019 as Brexit finalizations hadn't been solidified... but as a hard Brexit is now in fact looming (won't get deep into my politics *cough* IndyRef2 *cough*) it seems the 2 week shutdown that was threatened could resurface if not already planned.

I am in upstate NY. My dealer is in Rochester, NY.

I never did get an updated build sheet, I should ask for that.

I wonder if I should press for information then. Like I said they only gave the rough estimate, not solid week to build. I don't really mind. It gives me time to install the EVSE and remove the dent someone put in last week with their car door. More of nice to try to plan.

That's about all I could find too. Newer articles mentioned tariffs but no planned shut down. With covid too though, shut downs can happen at anytime anyway ugh

For the EVSE, I recommend having an electrician install a 14-50 outlet and then buying a plug-in version. That gives you a lot of flexibility, including the ability to easily take the EVSE with you if you ever move.
