Thanks for the info. I just have to be patient and hope that they get it sooner. With my look I am looking at Spring. I don't have many Mini dealers around me. Closest is Hartford, CT. Other than that it would have to be Boston or RI but those are a hike.
Holy smokes, that’s a wait! Congrats! Mines still at the port, since Oct 21. How long was yours sitting there? Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
October 26th based on a previous screenshot. I haven't called in a few months, so I don't know how accurate any of this is.
Which port in the U.S. is your MINI coming to? Mine has been at the port in the U.K. since 10/27/21 but has yet to catch a ride to the port in Baltimore.
Found out my car is on the Pleiades Leader, set to arrive 12/2. Then however long it takes to get from the port to Albuquerque. The wait is excruciating.
What is a typical wait at the port? Mines beet sitting for 3weeks, waiting to hitch a ride to Baltimore (looks like there have been several ships in the last couple weeks that have made that route). I am slightly worried the car is just tucked away in a corner somewhere…. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
I am in the same “boat”. Been at the port in South Hampton since the 27th. Thought it would have been on its way to Baltimore by now. I wonder if they wait until they have so many cars going to the same place before they load up? It’s so frustrating.
I just talked with my Motoring Advisor, and they said they lost a ship last month due to mechanical issues (not sure what that means…) so that might be part of the delay. Mine got to the port on Oct 21, so maybe we will be boat buddies! Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
Columbus, Ohio At least they can keep each other company on the ship, rule #1 across the ocean! Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
You know that happened before right? 65 good MINIs were lost that day. https://motoroctane.com/news/7550-1200-jaguar-land-rover-cars-sink-english-channel
Ditto here. 'At The Port' on 10/18, Destination Baltimore, en route to Minneapolis. 3 weeks + 2 days...
I emailed my dealer and asked if it was "normal" for such a long wait from being at port in South Hampton to catching a ride on a boat. He said it is the new normal for the past year or so. I also asked if they wait until the ship is full before they departed and he said that is what they typically do. I know a gal in my local MINI club that took delivery of her SE 10/26 and hers was at the port 9/28 and on a boat 10/05. She must have just been lucky with the timing.
A lot of forum members have watched this video showing how difficult it is to arrange all the vehicles so the ones going to the first port of call are closest to the front while the ones to be unloaded last are all at the back. The last thing they want to do is detach and move a bunch of vehicles off the ship to get to ones parked behind them. Then there's the problem with very large trucks or pieces of even larger trucks that have to be loaded last because they won't fit anywhere deeper in the RoRo (roll-on/roll-off) carrier. You'll see they absolutely plan to have the ship full before departure, but they don't keep the ship docked for days, waiting for cargo to arrive. It costs more the longer the ship is at the port, so they want the cargo to be ready and waiting to load so they can get on their way ASAP.
For those of us with our SEs on the Garnet Leader, it just got to San Diego. Too bad it has to go to Hueneme, unloaded, and then driven back to SD for those of us picking up in SD. Makes us wait an extra week!
