If Tesla's Freemont factory had been as automated as a Toshiba SSD factory it could have stayed open during the defacto injunction from CV. The contrast with China! Auto workers make more in Shanghi than in the US. The factory went up much quicker, it ramped up much quicker and it was down for much less time. Costs are better despite paying workers more.

Think of the irony of the whole of Alameda county being about the size of LA city and in that small space there are 6 damn gasoline refineries (1/3 of the state's refineries) that were kept running because of federal order even during a time of glut when those were making the respiratory issues that spread CV certainly worse or much worse but they instead close the most serious green energy producer (or reducer of dirty energy) and the state's largest manufacturing employer and work toward undermining their ability to be free of those refineries in the future- think the people of Alameda or neighboring areas like inhaling from those refineries or want them in their county or want them in CA? No (!) they want them gone and replaced with something that works. Granted, modern refineries may be pretty lean not needing many people to run. And of course glut or no glut there is still temporary need for gasoline in the state but they didn't or weren't' able to idle any of them or were afraid to raise the issue but presumably it made the fossil fuel situation worse with glut so that was a positive in a small way. And when one member of the US House did raise the issue a GOP senator inflated the size of employment (hostage taking) by the fossil fuel industry by 10x and wasn't called out on it even though the fossil fuel industry surely doesn't really care about the employees aside from making hostage claims or using them up and throwing them away.

But the decision to shut Tesla (even as it is an energy producer and a green one) what was that about? And the attempts to keep it closed even barring from today on from running in a limited capacity what is that about? The construction industry didn't stop ever but Tesla is somehow non essential- seems much more likely that Tesla is much more essential to the future of the planet and the state than any construction business in operation through the crisis. Was that bribed local politicians? Are they trying to lose the battle to save humanity for petty little local careerism or bought and paid for issues? What if Tesla was allowed to run up to now- would the dirty Big 3 be allowed to run- doubt it- should have shut them and told them to pay their workers full pay out of future stock dividends and buy backs and let Tesla run (for being green)- as it is Big 3 are being allowed to run starting Monday in Detroit and Tesla is shut. For context climate change is more important and still at least as pressing as CV even if CV comes back. And climate change and fossil fuel caused instability both political and economic is way more important. And even just on the economic (recognizing the political is always radically more important than the merely economic) we cannot afford anything other than getting rid of fossil fuels as fast as humanly possibly as they are bankrupting America and corrupting it to the point of breaking. My sense is allowing the cancer of the fossil fuel industry in the US to continue will mean it can't defend itself and not being rid of the corruption and economic damage caused by the fossil fuel industry and its products will prove terminal well before the effects of climate change.
Tesla should look at the sources of money for those Alameda politicians and then publish those sources incessantly if there are issues.

I don't believe the current CA admin is actually green- its more green washing than green. For instance Brown wasn't that green. When he went to Germany they heckled him as a green washer. He had for instance an a staff member that was tasked with doing something about fossil fuel fraud in the state but when that person started doing their job and making a difference Brown supposedly got rid of that person. And it was under Brown that the gas industry was able to use the Aliso Viejo scam to raise power rates- they gassed a community out of their homes for 6 months and were rewarded as usual by being able to raise rates substantially to the point that the whole thing looked manufactured and it keeps happening again and again and again on what looks to be a programmed schedule. But under the current CA Admin the former insurance commissioner's practice of causing insurers to have to disclose carbon exposures was discontinued (a massive fraud in itself because any insurer with fossil fuel investments or coverage is a fraud, a bad investment and not trust worthy as an insurer because its socializing losses and charging its customers more to do so- unacceptable and fraudulent.) Under the CA current admin PG&E was able to foist another rolling black out Enron style scam and so far been able to keep its fraudulent investors in the loop (despite also having many deaths related to fires it could have prevented) and hasn't had the real consequences that are needed and that would set the precedent of divesting to zero and ending their backwards useless rent seeking (where is the value added for these credit cards that can't be paid off where people in CA pay 3-4x per kwh what people with coops pay in rural communities and where the parasitic difference could have gone to for instances undergrounding lines to prevent fire but instead went to thieving ill gotten gain and rent seeking for the sake of extracting rents like unnecessary credit cards that can never be paid off- where is the social utility in that?) And of course the head of the current admin is supposedly a relative of the US Speaker of the House and that Speaker has opposed the GND and idiotically called it unrealistic- if anything the GND is way too slow. What a surprise. So we again have the counterfeit left the kind that allows hostage taking by the fossil fuel industry over jobs and the fake labor that undermines working people by being coopted by 'managements'- just cash these hourly people out at a million per position (all of it going to the worker) or whatever it takes but let get serious. And lets not forget that CA has been going backwards overall against the Trump admin despite the massive number of court victories it has had against the Trump admin- how is that possible? Why doesn't it use its power to still enforce against mercury in the face of the obvious absolute black faced corruption of the EPA by Trump's fossil fuels shills- why doesn't it go after the EPA head directly in public and not in the back room and in quiet court cases? It strikes me as trying to lose battles convincingly.

On climate change the survival of a free humanity is more important than the survival of any state. Tesla is tied to the US through SpaceX and defense- but surely it could look at moving its head quarters either to another state or out of the US. Maybe if Musk had time in a few years he could run for Governor of CA to turn it more properly green because right now its fake green. If it were green it never would have weakened net metering rules and it would be moving much much faster at riding itself of all fossil fuel production and use. It is still allowing fracking, incredibly it hasn't banned that permanently economically stranded garbage yet but is continuing to allow that bs to destroy water supplies accelerate earth quake fault lines. Brown was getting better at least with rhetoric on the way out the door. But note the last serious green by by CA got shot down by one little piggish legislator citing literally his careerism and his moronic know nothing moderate-ism in a self aggrandizing article about chess playing (or similar motif) as the reason- another Ajit Pai- how may lives did not passing that bill cost?

Is the US on balance right now a force for good in the world? How can it be if it continues to support fossil fuels? If you listen to the people on the right in power more often than not they speak against democracy. Listen closely. They are more and more talking in favor of imposed hereditary rule where cash replaces votes and people are demoted from citizens to helpless consumers same moronic idiocy W. blathered about when he would talk of the US as an Empire and not a Republic or when he was talking about raising the value of enslaving capital. Look at Ajit Pai of the FCC in the most contemptuous way imaginable, with utter seething contempt arguing to make censorship pay to serve a sponsor class. And the fake left is worse- just the puppets of the anti democratic elitist rule by inherited wealth crowd, but the fake left lies and says they are not what they clearly are and that makes them mere tools and extensions of the GOP, puppets of puppets.

Tesla, or at least Elon Musk, really wanted factories that he described as an "alien dreadnought", using touchless production lines "manned" by robot arms moving at eye-blurring speed. Sadly, that idea did not survive contact with reality.

Tesla is continuing to attempt to automate as much as possible, on an ongoing basis; but there are practical limits. A greater need for social distancing due to the current pandemic doesn't alter the physical limitations of automation.

Well I am glad he is moving out of CA to either Nevada or Texas. Suspect they will they move the Freemont capacity to Giga Nevada and HQ to Texas. Fremont is a legacy factory built by two legacy companies. If that is not enough maybe one day depending on where the US goes and how binding the tech sharing is with SpaceX, HQ could end up in China. It makes sense to move the HQ to Texas because that is the heart of the US energy sector and Tesla has a pattern of bringing the fight to where the fight is at including Berlin and Shanghai. Also Texas in Austin has a good cost of living, greenery and good low cost higher quality educational resources and industrial parks and cheap land. And Texas faces the same prospects as Saudi Arabia does so having Tesla at home would be a huge score for Texas to transition to a green future. Have to be careful with Nevada green washers Buffet and Gates were able to use NRG to corrupt the PUC and push Tesla from the state in some areas earlier- but Nevada is a total treasure trove if Tesla is going into the energy business directly (although it is important to be mindful of Seba's "God Point" on roof top vs energy sent over even super conducting wire- think we're there now) and it will have cheapest internal energy costs. Glad Musk has been selling his houses in CA- that was a warning shot- Alemeda and CA can't say they weren't warned. It must make some sense to cut the commute out of the back and forth between Nevada and CA. Taxes will presumably be lower in both as well. Guess they will have to stress more telecommuting for some folks in this transition even permanently but some design work can be done almost anywhere. Means in the interim more leaning on China. But I think its good to stick it to fake green any way possible. Lets see if suck ups try to fill the vacuum- see if Amazon tries. Lets see if fraud greeners try to get into punishment mode alleging capital flight. Tesla was only trying to bring back a fraction of its work force in line with other areas after having presumably more experience with it than anyone else (Tesla China- no losses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) But Alameda couldn't be reasonable with its 6 oil refineries running full steam!!!
Also glad they are suing Alemeda and hoping they really focus on trying to follow the money and publish any findings on this.

Gut tells me that in part and from some quarters this was a plot to try to shut Tesla down without creating a martyr. Kind of like the green tariffs on Solar but in that case it was another attempt to try to save the inherent failure that is the natural gas industry- save it? it was never viable! But here I think this was much more likely man made. And when the US intelligence agencies had a duty to know about it in China and surely knew about it and surely told the Admin the admin had actually liquidated its pandemic staff just prior (like W getting warned about 911) and now those same US intelligence agencies that had a duty to know are based on that apparent lack of credibility trying to tell us it wasn't man made apparently because the US sponsored the most associated lab in China and it may actually have come from Fort Dietrick in the US as one Professor of International Law at the University of Illinois Urbana claims and where curiously one Biotech lab in Boston with 90 people at the US outbreak had 75 people suddenly get it- seems weird to say the least and then they put the guy who made his career off wrongly correlating HIV with aids at the top of the effort. And where it was all pre-figgured as "Wuhan 400" in a 1996 US fiction author's (Dean Koont's) work and where that author has literally sold half a billion books and where his last 6 books have a moral of "don't let them inject you..." and now here it comes the same industry that may have manufactured this and is indemnified against suit and is for profit (when it shouldn't be) and definitely has interlocking boards weapons makers (and an unrepentant history of lying to the public with things like he swine flue hoax) will now claim it has a right to inject people with a weakened version of this supposed flu virus in the form of a flue vaccine when the prior flue vaccines (and not at all due to lack of wide spread use) not only failed to prevent this flu but never do prevent flues and ever since they've ramped up their flue shots the US has had an apparent massive increase in this kind of illness- anecdotally, radically more and all of us know people who routinely get the very flue, the shots are supposed to protect them from just after vaccination- but the sponsored medicine pushers keep pushing. And contrast this to Japan where the state of Japan dropped vaccines all together after pushing them harder than anyone else because the risk benefit wasn't worth it (Japan understood these medicines don' work and aren't safe) and because these were apparently increasing infant mortality (later confirmed by Japan) and since then Japan has had the best results on health care for the best costs on the planet for at least a couple decades. But contrast that with the retarded UK which wants to criminalize criticism of an out dated technology that never worked that well because they surely want to manufacture masses of this virus for profit and claim they are injecting a damaged version of it into their population which will just get flushed down toilets and waft out storm drains and heal like protean viruses do and keep the stuff infecting people- good possibly for more shut downs. Look at the stats on the number of virologists and pediatricians who inject their own children with this stuff- very enlightening. But they take the poor and in CA in particular try to deny them their constitutional rights over it. Its needle rape.

When this thing was spooling up Harvard's Charles Lieber got arrested for being part of the Ten Thousand Talents program and not reporting it. He is supposedly a Gates associate. Gates kept going on about vaccines and pandemics for years prior its a major focus of his foundation. After the arrest of Liber, Gates gets in some kind of trouble and has to apparently resign from the boards of MS and Berkshire. When this started the US sent Remdesivir to the Wuhan lab which had Swiss Red Cross involvement through its head (Octogon!) and where the French were involved with the construction of the facility. That lab supposedly tried to patent the Remdesivir. In 2010 celebrity psychic Sylvia Brown said there would be a pandemic in 2020 and it would come again in 2030- both NWO Agenda 21 years- she died in 2013 so we can't ask her. All of it is fishy. When Koonts talks in his latest books about essentially why you shouldn't just let them inject you its not some simple Modex its like a nano tech cloud based remote control lobotomizer. But shouldn't we trust these people? You mean the people who gave us radio active milk? The ones that put neural toxic lead in the gas (that dropped IQs and caused decades worth of country wide crime wave and dumbed own our board rooms?) or the ones that sugared up the food to make it neural toxic or the ones that can't do anything about BT and glyphosate (Gates is involved in that stuff look at the work by Vandana) which is causing an epidemic of diabetes, or the ones that did all the vaccines associated with Autism but claim they've never lost a suit and there is no connection when in fact there is a Federal Vaccine Damaged child program that pays out double SSI for something like 8 billion and counting so far over decades because it totals about one kid in 2000 (for vaccines with at best questionable histories.) Trust the ones that have been defunding emergency rooms and hospitals because they aren't profitable- the ones that have dumbed down our K1-12 and weakned our academia to the point that its vulnerable to a 10000 talents program? Continued

Tesla could build out Nevada using lessons learned at Fremont and Shanghi. Building a paint shop in Nevada from scratch should resolve the Fremont paint problems. It also diversifies Nevada so they aren't so dependent on Reno and Las Vegas entertainment.

I'm not pandering but Kansas City or St. Louis has a lot to offer.

Had some interesting conversations with some drug pushing pediatricians in CA. When one with vaccine propaganda all over his walls was pushing it, I brought up Japan and he said "but I know which ones work!" and then never pushed again with us. Yeah like Tetnus alone? Its not like antidoting is controversial- here there is smoke because there is fire. Another in the 2000s said the average kid was coming into her office with a cold or flue symptom 1x a month- but when I was a kid in the same state we saw the Dr 1x ever 3 years so their vaccination campaign was a total failure but surely sold a bunch of over the counter garbage- from what I can tell their vaccines have been making things much worse and my guess this is intentional. Should we trust them like trusting the fools that allow them to put over 10,000 different drugs in our food but if it is called an additive it doesn't have to be tested or proven safe like in the EU? Trust the ones who can't even the obviously carcinogenic compounds that cause gender ambiguity out of our plastics or make them properly biodegradeable? Or trust the one that add fluorine to the water beyond naturally occurring flouring and thereby claim that it is necessary to add flouring (even as it makes hip fractures more likely) but use this for the idiocy of blanket indemnify any compound with fluorine in it like the super toxic compounds widely used in industry leaching into drinking water? Like the fools that push water privatization and support the outrageous plastic water industry? Or you hear a bunch of people at Disney land got the measles that were vaccinated for it- their statistical subterfuge on this is so thin it is disgusting. Sure a lot of this is social placebo. They shouldn't do a vaccine on this for the same reason they don't do small pox vaccines anymore and it is not just because small pox is rare now. Illnesses like polio come and go on their own. In mercantile England they got Malthusian and dumped pestilence vermin and plague into the inner cities and it back fired. But just trust us. Trusting a state is like trusting fire. When the industry is asked why it doesn't do double blinded tests on vaccines with circular logic it says it would be unethical to deny people vaccines so what they put in people is just ginny pigging.

So this is a civil rights issue but we have to make sure we don't damage the defacto injuction police power because it has to be able to be used against the fossil fuel industry without much unrest along with protections for its workers. Wasting that power on issues generated by these rarefied fossil fuel pushers (pharma) would be terrible but they have to be stopped from being able to inject by fiat and prevented from being punitive.

Look up what Japan has done with viruses and vaccines and then look at the utter crap in this article https://www.nbcnews.com/health/kids-health/some-doctors-helping-anti-vaccine-parents-get-medical-exemptions-n963011 Tesla should look for a link between Erica Pan and Senator Richard Pan. Both are pediatricians, both are in the virus vaccine racket and they are about 1 hr apart but both claim not to be related despite sharing a sir name and both as the articles shows are rabid trample your rights vaccine pushers. Richard helped foist the Nazi like law on the CA public trying to kill vaccine exemptions- but these people when you look at Japan which they of course know about are lying their arses off. I am of the opinion that when a tragedy happens we get more rights not ever less rights. Also of the opinion that if money is given to a politician for influence that should result in mandatory life in prison for both parties. On house arrest in you own home and we get to inject your child with what ever we feel like for profit and there is nothing you can do about it have the same ring to them.

Admitted the article above is sponsored media and sponsorship is the direct reason for most of the problems in the world today. Musk was asking Rogan, what do you trust- well you can't trust sponsorship based media those exist to lie to people in very specific ways and also make bribery based fake elections and selections possible. It is part of why we have garbage sponsored medicine and have privatized hospitals and emergency rooms and have not spare capacity its society as theft and lies.

    Silicon Texas & Silicon Nevada

One Alameda county supervisor suggested that Tesla wouldn't leave 14000 people in CA. That supervisor has it so backwards- none of that would be necessary for Tesla to leave. Telecommuting is surely for people who couldn't or wouldn't go maybe supplemented by some back and forth and transfer of assets to NV makes a lot of sense for tax and logistical reasons. Also there are people that for the mission (which is survival and having a planet worth living on) would follow Musk and Tesla to Mars. Google is a spammer, Facebook is a life invader, Apple is a one trick poney, Microsoft (more Seattle anyway- but proof the valley can be had at a distance) is a NSA capitulation with a green washer founder (even now he's pushing a battery made from fossil fuels reminiscent of the hydrogen fool cell long tail pipe scam) also possibly caught up in whatever CV really is. If you want to work with a cutting edge organization with huge but critically ethical and truly positive mission oriented objectives Tesla is about your only choice. Its true Google has powerful AI ambitions but who wants a super intelligence from an entity with roots in spam search and capitulating on mass domestic spying on citizens?

As for Tesla's legacy competitors- Tesla's left in the dust competition doesn't have an actual purpose aside from the scam of providing so called return on investment for parasites. Their products are an excuse and an after thought relative to that rent seeking. Their products are just camouflage for more rent seeking and rent seeking reinforcing collusion so the products are like the fraud pushing ads needed to foist those products- all of it is spam quality- all of it is just a means to more rent seeking for the sake of rent seeking where regulation may be the only value added. Oh, but the parasite risked 'capital(?)' yeah capital that they didn't earn in the first place and therefore wasn't theirs in the first place and therefore wasn't an actual contribution in the first place and even their self imposed supervision where it even exists is self serving and isn't a contribution. And having no real purpose beyond survival in the service of a fraud, everyone that works in one of these rent seeking operations works under duress and at best is strung up and strung along.

You can hear the sneer, if Telsa has a purpose beyond enriching parasites through products that aren't actually just cover for rent seeking it is a mere 'social benefit corporation.' But this is where stupid breaks down. This is all the difference in the world. It means products that continually improve at a super fast rate and serve an improved future for all. Much better than products that are merely a pretense to a fraud, the fraud of further enriching non contributing parasites with more ill gotten gain- parasites who under more transparent circumstances would be in cell for such behavior. In short, Tesla is not a pretense for theft with products designed to fail to milk maximum rents for colluding useless extractive parasitic entitled rent seekers. But what about Grandma's pension or token employee ownership- just more colluding intermingling for cover and to achieve a hostage taking protection racket. Also the money they extract from these sham operations isn't just in share price, thinking that would be like thinking Kaiser Permanente is an actual non profit and not just a tax evader.

But then explain the differences. Germany: labor input, better regulation better education. Japan same as Germany with input through TQM. China, the same plus its not built out and is critically genuinely green focused. Korea a lot of the same and export dependent like Japan and Germany so more regulatory enforced quality and oversight. With the US Big its 3 bailouts for rent seekers with complicit labor unions and its why workers make more in Shanghi China than the US and make much more in Germany.

This isn't some secret, even share holder pleasers like Jack Welch admitted share holders are last in line on the list of actual stake holders. Bob Lutz knows this but he apparently has faith in collusion for the benefit of rent seeking to always win out. What are the Big 3 at? Collusion and milking the state? As they say in Detroit " an automobile is an inefficient use of capital." What would be an efficient use? Oh right, raw rent seeking with the minimum possible, preferably zero contribution in return. The Big 3 are part of what Piketty calls maintaining inequality regimes. And they do it through tying up future government spending because believe it or not government apportions essentially all future spending. The Big 3 the perpetually structurally bankrupt.

So far as I know, Tesla has an ongoing labor shortage in the Gigafactory 1 area. My understanding is they thought building a huge new factory would attract people to come and settle in the area, but I guess that hasn't happened to the extent they planned for.

As I've said before, what Tesla needs to do is to subsidize some temporary high-density housing in the area to make it affordable for people to move their to get a job. "Temporary" in the sense that people would be expected to stay there only temporarily, until they can arrange for other accommodations or pay for a house to be built.

This might be something like the "company towns" built during the industrial revolution, altho presumably Tesla would still pay workers in actual U.S. dollars rather than company scrip!

It would be wonderful if Tesla would buy and re-open one of the closed auto assembly plants in the Fairfax area of Kansas City, KS, the city where I live... but I'm not going to hold my breath!

    Montana Skeptic nonsense again

He has a new article full of inaccuracies about false statements about Tesla profit and misleading statements about capital use and where he tries to pitch Einhorn as knowledgeable about Tesla. But his main point is that Tesla will somehow two time or stand up Texas or that in a poison pill kind of way that Tesla isn't serious or shouldn't be taken serious.

    1. Tesla ended up in CA as the result of a crisis opening and opportunity for a fire sale on a factory
    2. Tesla stayed in CA for 17 years when it was never necessary to recruit from the valley
and Tesla and Musk have been doing business in Texas for a while so it is not spur of the moment.
    3. Tesla is moving its HQ which likely to Texas if not immediately, CEO will go there too, likes the area.
    4. The rest of the world isn't into pick-ups and Cybertruck needs to be made in the heartland to be
    more viable
    5. Tesla needs a central location to cut down on logistical costs
    6. A Tesla Tera factory is the most concentrated industrial undertaking ever and new mold for industry
globally- nothing lightweight about totally the opposite- 30x size or capacity of giga
    7. Vertical integration and robust compartmentalization disaster hardening and not wanting to
duplicate logistics costs or be dependent on any regions supplier means of course Tesla makes a solid
    substantial commitment.
    8. So no need to mess with Tesla on where it produces things or on jobs- there will of course be plenty
of jobs just based on totally massive scale but Tesla needs to automate to the limit to make the scale
work, harden against disaster etc. so great jobs yes where people can develop and promote but aims
should revenue targeted not jobs targeted.
    9. Tesla goes to where the fight is at and that's Texas for energy- Tesla's goal is to change energy
globally and if Texas wants stay on top of energy it needs to do right by Tesla
    10. While Texas may have won a competition, out beyond things like costs its Tesla that chose Texas
because Tesla is pure space cowboy from Space X to space as the new frontier to Cybertruck. Its
American ingenuity, American natural aggressiveness and being the best at things and bringing
back quality. Tesla doesn't believe in fascism or being pushed around it something Texans can take
pride in. Tesla gets stuff done. When was the last time an American company was leading in
manufacturing? Intel? Where is Intel now? Think about where Americans are now people are
trying to push them around too much (even if we're pro life and adoption which I am) we have
people telling what they can do with their bodies, telling them they have to be injected and to
telling them to just trust and telling they have to pay health insurance companies and telling them
they have to stay in their house and not come out and telling them they have to shut their business
and just hold their breath indefinitely. Tesla is about breaking through limits.
    11. And think about what it does to CA- it puts Texas at the center of Green and makes CA have to do
more than green wash- it calls them out. Tesla opens a mass migration out of CA to the Austin area.

None of us want to live in a trash heap waste land. Think of the range and the prairie and trees, and clean fresh air and clean water and the open expanse. This is what it is about. Tesla brings a revolution in autonomy, transport, logistics, building construction (hvac,) recycling (bigger picture) green good will, power production, power storage, grid updating, space exploration ties. excavation (boring company), redesigned internet (starlink) industrial innovation (terra factories) It may be a chance for Texas to be the home of the only surviving US auto company.

The area, yes, but a new building following the Shanghai example. Tesla learned the best design is two long sides with side-by-side, semi-trailer docks. The subcontractor (or other sites) build and fill the semi-trailers with the parts staged for the assembly line. There is no central shipping and receiving or local storage. It is 'just-in-time' to the max.
