That IS nasty, but it raises that din only in reverse, right?

It's for both forward and reverse, but louder when you reverse. Be thankful the MINI sounds so much better.

Thus my impetus to alter the MINI sounds. Toyota doesn't have the code to change it, and while I like the concept of a roaring sound to alert peds I'm glad to be able to limit it to reverse. As mentioned before, I am conscientious when I drive, and if there's a pedestrian I will stop for them.

You can't stop if you're already stopped. You're certain to be sued by some cellphone-focused person who walks into your stopped, silent MINI Cooper SE and their Twitter community post facto informs them they've opened a gold mine if the electric car they walked into was illegally silent. So there.

Yet another reason to install a dashcam!

I'm not convinced the pedestrian warning would help those people, there have been dozens of people I've been slowly creeping behind in parking lots that are totally oblivious to the weird humming coming from behind them...

Ahh. Thank you. That's the part that people weren't being clean on. Once you make the change in Bimmercode and "enable" the acoustic pedestrian protection (in the Mini setting) AND make the change in the i3 setting to enable remembering the setting, THEN you go into the car settings and disable the pedestrian warning sound. I was missing the last part of going into the car settings. I thought everything was done in Bimmercode. Once you said "go into the car's settings" it all made sense.

Hey guys, I saw it talked about in this thread but not necessarily posted. Sorry if I missed it somewhere...Can anyone point me to Bimmercode for the two items below:

    - Turn off infotainment warning on startup
    - Turn off seatbelt chime on startup

    Here's a good resource: https://bimmercode.app/cars/f56/

Not all of those setting apply to the SE though so probably not a good idea to change things you don't completely understand.

For the warnings, I think there are two (but I don't quite remember what I turned off)

For the seatbelt chime it's under the crash safety module. I'm pretty sure this one will throw a bunch of bad looking errors when you apply this coding but they will go away after a couple of minutes (or when the car is restarted? Don't quite remember)

While we’re on the subject of not really following along: every car I’ve owned or driven since 1989 I’ve had the sidelights/markers/parking lights turn on automatically with DRLs, or had them rewired or coded to do so. I’m not sure what the DRL settings do in BimmerCode but that’s what I’d like, to have all the markers on all the time, with auto headlamps deciding when to switch between DRLs and dipped beams. Is that doable?

Appreciate the response and tips. Going to at least get that start up warning out of the way and go from there!

EDIT: Took care of the iDrive warning note and seatbelt reminder at startup. as noted above, the seatbelt one makes all sorts of messages pop up, but they all go away after a restart. So much better with just those two things disabled!

So far I changed driving mode to sport and got rid of the seat belt chime. The idrive warning message is next on my hit list. Have not had much SE tinkering time the past month.

I've been debating on changing default drive mode to sport as well, or changing it so it remembers the setting from when the vehicle was turned off.

Anyone know how to get rid of the seatbelt reminder near the center of the instrument display? Even after you buckle up and the indicator more towards the right goes away, you get that double seatbelt reminder in the center for like a minute no matter what. Already tried changing the timer from the default 100 seconds and nothing. Not sure if that was even the right setting anyway...

That icon is for the rear seats, not sure how to make it go away but it's easy enough for me to ignore I kinda just forget it's there (not in your face and no annoying noises)

If you buckle the rear seatbelts, that warning changes from red to green.

For the rear seats, no kidding! Hmm, sounds like I'll have to learn to ignore. It just doesn't make any sense to me, there's nothing in the back seat, therefore no reminder needed...

Interesting. Does the icon stay there as long then?

As a parent it is helpful to know who is buckled in and who is not.

The icons stay lit same amount of time green or red as far as I can tell.

Totally get it in that scenario. As someone who will almost never have anyone in the back seat, it is an annoyance...Appreciate chiming in on the amount of time it stays lit.
