  1. VERY true. That's how you sell stuff.

Currently I don't think it's really an issue at all in the US. In Europe it might be different since ev adoption is a lot better. On the flip side, Europe is not quite as "violent" as the US is. Maybe because of different gun laws.

But in the future it might become an issue. Although, why would a criminal hang out in an area where nobody is other than a charging point? What are the chances of just hitting the right person who actually has a bunch of cash on them, or other valuable things. But then, I'm not a criminal and don't know what I'd be looking out for.

I for example don't carry any cash on me, ever. The most valuable thing I have on me is my cellphone and even that is not top tier. But I understand there is things of other value out there for other people. Whatever it might be.

"Unattended" does not necesarily mean "charging" ... do you have the same inflated fear from a
regular ol' shopping trip? Just as justifiable; maybe it's time to seek out destinations in better areas.

OP here - My use case is the same as Kyle Conner described in out of spec motoring - and ironically I've had bad experiences in the same area of Utah/Colorado as he was concerned about.

Parked at night in a small hick town in the rural desert on a DC fast charger - you can't leave. After some recent experiences I would not recommend charging there at night. I also now have additional items in my car to defend myself and other occupants. If my car was totalled and I had to get another one, I would probably switch to a Tesla just to get away from CCS since there are Tesla solutions to emergency eject and drive away. This is a very real issue.
