Carplay no longer works or recognized by the Infotainment system

I've had cases where I'll plug my phone in and the infotainment screen simply says 'loading' indefinitely. I'll go into the menus and try to 'reforce' it and it says the function isn't available while Android Auto is running. I'll go to my phone and it'll be locked up with the Android Auto screen that pops up. But it never 'locks on' with the infotainment system and instead of displaying Android Auto in that menu option it just says 'Smartphone'.

No idea what's happening and whether bluetooth has anything to do with it.
