Well, darn it, I can't reproduce what Domenick did in the original post. There was a thumbnail there that you could click on to see the full-sized image.

I can certainly see why it would be good to be able to insert a thumbnail into a post; a thumbnail the reader can click on to see the full-sized image, yet without putting a picture into the post which would overwhelm what was being said.

So, Domenick: How did you do that? (Inquiring minds want to know! :) )

  3. When you upload a file, you will see "Thumbnail" and "Full Image" in yellow boxes. Just click on thumbnail, and you get the small version which, if it's clicked on, shows a large image. Helps keep the post a bit tidy, though I tend to use full image because I want people to see what I'm showing them. I added the "Click to see..." part, so people would realize there's an image there.

New Posts/New Threads/Active topics - This is the main feature I miss in this forum. I use it daily on all other forums.
Actually, I check each time I log in here to see if it's been added. Please do!

  6. If you click on the menu arrow beside the word "Forums" at the top of the site, you'll see new posts is an option.
Active topics might be a good one to have too, though.

Why do we have a section of general and a section of other, that I just recently saw. Seems they should just be the same, and this general is basically other as it is.

  10. The "General" area at the top is for EV-related posts, while the "Other" section is more free-ranging.

And that's fine when you're in the section itself, just seemed like 'General EV' could well fall under OTHER and remove a section is all.

I think having the "General EV discussion" section at the top, and the "Non-EV discussion" section at the bottom, is the best layout. The only change I think might be beneficial is changing the "Other" label to "Non-EV Discussions". Or perhaps change "Other" to "Off Topic", and change the "Off-Topic" subdivision to "Other Off-Topic".

Indsideevs getting throttled? Noticing it loading really slow and having to constantly reload.

I think it works pretty well the way it is, personally. Keeps the EV discussion at the top where it belongs. And moves the true off topic stuff out of the way. :)

How do I post pictures? I'm trying to upload one and getting a security error.

I assume this includes insideevs.com as well as the forum?

I get why "featured" articles aren't chronological but the 'main' section "Electric Car News, Reviews, & Reports" not being chronological is ridiculously frustrating.

  18. Are you still noticing an issue with this? The stories should be chronological in the main section. I do know they had experimented with putting some related stories down there as well, which was confusing.

So on the new commenting system on the website, how does one add an Avatar?

  20. I believe people get avatars using http://en.gravatar.com/. Let me try it out myself and see what happens.

I see my post complaining about the dramatic drop in InsideEVs journalistic integrity in the latest Tesla Roadster article was refused. Well I suppose you guys don't want any bad publicity. But if you guys persistent posting click-bait headlines that are inacurate and often misleading, pass on rumors without checking their validity, you are going to piss off a large portion of your reader ship not just me.

I have found that comments posted to the InsideEVs news site which contain the phrase "click bait" are deleted. Perhaps that's done automatically by a 'bot? I have considered using the snarky phrase in a post "rhymes with 'flick mate' ", but haven't yet had the nerve to follow through. It is possible to get the staff so ticked off at you that you'll be banned, so I don't generally go out of my way to provoke them. In other words, I do practice a slight bit of self-censorship, which I suppose is what they want when it comes to comments on "click bait".

It is sad that the InsideEVs news editors appear so sensitive about comments regarding their content and editorial choices that they censor comments about it. :(

I'm glad that those running the InsideEVs Forum (Hi, Jack! Hi, Domenick!) seem to be more open-minded about such things. :)

  23. Hi, @Roy_H. They do tend to have a more heavy moderating hand over on the website than here. I can't really do much about that, but if you'd like to bring up a topic here for discussion, you are certainly welcome to do so.

I believe the article in question is: Next-Gen Tesla Roadster To Be Hard Top Convertible – Not Targa From Reveal?
I see a comment at the bottom there from you, but I can't tell if you submitted it later or if the original one took a while to clear. I know they've been having a problem with legit comments going to spam, so it may have just taken a while for them to find it and set it free.
