After some time to learn, I recommend you to use netflix apk version suitable for android version, if there is a better solution, please comment!

Yeah, when I first got HH to turn off that irritating warning message at every startup (worth the price alone), I did. The USB volume knob I tried would display a volume level scale on the center display (Oh the joy!) but it did not actually control the volume level. :( I contacted the creator of HH (I believe) and he didn't seem to think the lack of a physical volume knob was a worthy issue.... :(

Hence, my question in this thread to the anyone here who might help or otherwise have had success.

    @fotomoto,

Ok, have an idea but cannot try it (don't have the knob). Since you are already HH'd you may try an android volume "sync" app. If the knob is driving a volume input on the Infotainment, but Honda is using the system volume vs "media" volume signal path (I don't know, never bothered to test this but DSP is on media-bluetooth for instance) - then you may just have to force android to change all volumes for your knob to work. I don't think there is any risk to this as this app isn't a root required app so shouldn't mess with the audio.

On playstore: VolumeSync - Sync your volume by reactle you can go use an apk export app from your phone, or download from places like apkpure (if you are ok with that) and put it on a USB and install from HH's app manager (you will need to turn on the switch allowing installing apps from USB and other sources).

If you load this, then if you use it to lock all the various (like on your phone) volumes (ringer, media, system, etc) then maybe your "knob" will work?

If this works and doens't mess things up let us know. The only downsides I could see if that it may link all your sounds, phone calls, vehicle messages, gps turns etc to one volume which may be annoying, I don't know. There are root ways to accomplish this but I would start with the least intrusive. Do not install Google Play unless you have to, recommend sideloading.

    https://apkpure.com/volumesync-sync-your-volume/com.reactle.ringandnotificationvolumesync

Again, I have NOT tested this.

    Cheers,

I have a new bonus to report for this months release of Honda Hack 5.1.3. Although codeage has not reported it on the changelog (likely not enough data yet for the model, folks here can help with that) for the Clarity, FLAC files are now working on the default music player for my 2018 Touring Clarity! This is really cool! With the other audio mods these sound really good! Just an FYI update.

    Cheers,

    Cash

Does Honda Hack bypass the requirement that the car be stopped to enter an address into the Honda Navigation system?

This post indicates you can set Fake Parking Status to do what you want.

I can validate that it does. The basic version would be sufficient, but I went with the pro anyway because of some of the other features...

Since it seems that you can not uninstall Honda Hack once you have installed it I have been reluctant to do it though I like the features it provides. One of my concerns has been overall degradation in response to all touchscreen inputs with Honda Hack installed. Has anyone noticed a response time change after installing?

No, there is no change. The only major slowness you would experience from Honda Hack is if you install Google Play Services; then the system slows to a crawl.

I have not noticed a degradation.

Let me add a caveat... Honda Hack enables you to download and install whatever other App's you desire. You could very easily bring this meager system to it's knees if you did that. Honda Hack itself (straight out of the box) does not contain things that I feel would be CPU intensive.

I wanted this for one specific reason, and I do not intent to do anything else in terms of added Apps / functions, etc.

I will also point out that there is a function within Honda Hack that "hides" all evidence of it's existence.
This function, in order to be nondescript if you go to the dealer for service or similar.

You state that you cannot uninstall it... I am not convinced of that (have not tried), but usually an Android App includes an uninstall feature of some kind.

    For those running HH...

Upon startup, HH automatically dismisses the initial warning banner, and you are left at the HOME screen.
This is OK, but I would prefer to always start out on the built-in navigation MAP screen (or perhaps wherever I left off previously).

There are a couple of features within HH that imply that you could do this:

    1. Run an application at startup - This does not work because it only allows you to chose from installed Apps (I have none). The navigation function is apparently not an application per-se and it does not appear on the list.

    2. Restore Last Function at startup: This is defaulted to OFF (and it starts up on the HOME screen). If I turn it ON, then it starts up on the AUDIO screen regardless of whether the MAP was on when the vehicle was turned off.

I mentioned this to the HH author and he suggested trying Honda's built-in function - "HOME >> Settings >> System >> remember the last screen”. This did not work either (still starts on the HOME screen).

Anyone have a thought on this?

I found out in the user manual (page 311) that "remember last screen" only works with the default screen interface design but not with the prettier "alternate mode".

    Hum...
You may be right, but the way it is worded is a little confusing. I have never "changed the screen interface design", but you may be right that the navigation map may be equivalent to an "alternate mode". Another thing that is not written clearly.

This isn't directly related to your question but this may pique your interest:

This is the infotainment skin I use in my car. I think it's easier to navigate while moving and also just looks much prettier, and is customisable.

Hey Mr Fixit, the post by Pooky above shows exactly what I was talking about. That is the "alternate screen interface", as opposed to the "default screen interface. It has a more "computerish" like, but in that mode you can't have the "remember last screen" option.

Yep, I get that... My point remains however that I have never changed my interface (it is still the default), but the "remember last screen" does NOT work in my case (where I would like the "last screen" to be the MAP in navigation mode)... (Touring with built-in navigation).

It seems that the navigation map must fall into the same category as the "alternate screen interface" even though my settings are still the default.

You know, I was also thinking about this just the other day but I haven't bothered much with it. I am not certain if it is possible either.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. But now watch this one: Today I drove to a point using the navigator and turned the car off with the MAP screen on (which I seldom do since I usually drive with the audio screen instead). Then when I went back and turned on the car, the MAP screen came up! That shouldn't have happened according to the user manual but once again, who knows all the intricacies and secret worlds of Clarity software code switches... I vaguely remember that at the beginning when I was still using the "default" skin interface, if I left the MAP screen on when turning off the car it would come back when turning it back on but I never really kept track of it. So now I got curious and will start tracking what happens when turning off the car with different screens up and if the same screen comes up when turning the car on (something else to do to cheat the Covid/retirement boredom) , but I agree with you the 'remember the last screen' "bug" doesn't seem related with the default vs. "alternate" skin interface mode at all...

Interesting... Are you also running Honda Hack?

Whatever the behavior of the vehicle, it is complicated by Honda Hack because it also has startup functions that may or may not interfere with the normal vehicle behavior.

One other thing to be careful of. I have noticed that it takes the vehicle quite a while to shut down completely. If you turn it off, and then turn it back on without waiting maybe 30 seconds (as you might do during these experiments) it will come right back on to where it was and not really boot again. You have to be sure it is 'really' off for an experiment to be valid... The evidence of a true boot is the Honda banner.

No, I haven't gone the Honda-Hack way, I'm too chickens..t to risk bricking the unit. Thank you for the tips, I''l keep you posted of my progress. Let's find out if I can help bringing that desired last scree up.
