Now I know I can go back I may play with it some more.

Why do you like it better? Are you able to customize what's on that screen and arrangement?

There is a white list file that has approved apks in it. Editing the whitelist and installing apps is 80% of what Honda hack does.

Is it known what apks are on Honda's white list? In other words, can the hack(er) reveal the list or can the hack only clobber whatever list Honda installs in the system?

That's exactly what I was doing.

    UPDATE:

Even though the tablet and Google Maps through Android Auto was working, it was annoying to have to connect via bluetooth every time I got in car.

I decided to try the Honda Hack. Quick and easy and I got Google Maps and Waze installed. I also installed the YouTube app, NetFlix and even MLB.At Bat. Seems to be working well, and this version of Google Maps is much better than what went through Android Auto.

I even installed CrossyRoad, just to see if I could. I could, but I don't think it runs right. It says it needs Google Play which in unavailable on your device.

Awesome. Are you be able to use Google Maps offline (download maps and store it into the headunit)?

I spoke too soon. Many problems. I’m going to Uber in a bit. Major issue is Apple CarPlay doesn’t work. Read this is an issue and there is a way to turn it on briefly but doesn’t work if you shut car off

So I’m running phone , Bluetooth to car playing music. Every time Google maps talks, it kills my Bluetooth source for audio.

Maps is slow too. Will play more.

    Don’t know what van is.

Anyone know how to exit developer mode??? That might be the problem?

There should be a toggle on top after you enter the developer page, you can turn it off there.

Get a android :p mine works seemlessly and don't need Bluetooth to stream music.... Map talks also don't kill music too!

Is there a way to reset to factory image to get everything back to normal -- as sort of a last resort?

The toggle there doesn’t actually shut off developer mode. It just shuts off the developer options. But it still says I’m a developer.

I might have to do a hard reset. I can’t get Android Auto to work for nothing now. :(

Go into Honda hack and use fix problems button. Then reboot your head unit.

I don't recommend installing anything that isn't offered in Honda hack app store. People screw up their head units and end up going to Honda.

There is now a service bulletin specifically on Honda hack, so they may start cracking down on people.

The whitelist.xml file is located at data/system/whitelist.xml
Make sure you enable the ROOT Explorer option in ESexplorer so it can access system files.
    [Menu>Tools>Root Explorer>switch on]

Sorry. The fix problems options are in pro version

I have no idea what you are talking about. I don’t know what ESExplorer is or where the menu is you are referring to. Thanks.

ESExplorer is one of the file managers on Android with root option for you to view/edit any files. I was referring to @insightman 's question regarding the whitelist of apk files that you can install.
