Sounds like your Clarity is defective. I can hear the high-pitch electro whining immediately after floor the gas pedal, and the car starts moving. half second is noway right
I don't see that anyone has asked about the Brake Hold feature: is the original poster using it? I've noticed that when pressing gently on the gas pedal while in brake hold, you have to get to a certain point before it releases the brakes and allows acceleration. If you are a gentle driver this can seem like a delay in acceleration (which it is).
Yes, I think the OP's clarity may be defective. My car responds really well at low speeds (i.e. from stop). The gas peddle is very sensitive and the car feels like it has a lot of go. i.e. electric engine at low speeds has good torque. Anyway, 'power' or 'perceived power' isn't an issue for me at all. (My last car was Subaru Outback station wagon 4cyl, so it's not like I'm coming from driving a V8 or something).
Thanks again for the replies and suggestions. I'll keep driving and evaluating but I may need to go back to the dealer to make sure things are working as they should.
Been driving in Econ all the time and response time is pretty good, except that I don't really feel the point when the engine starts if I floor it. But not too long ago I accidentally took it out of Econ and noticed a much better response to acceleration. We also have a 2018 Odyssey, and Econ mode there sucks royally. There's definitely a lag from idle.
Taking it out of Econ doesn’t give you any more acceleration, it just remaps the pedal position so that you don’t have to press as far to get the same acceleration and the ICE will come on sooner.
