Don't worry, the roof rails will disappear into the background...

I once asked my dealer about adding rails after the fact and they refused, so not an easy job. You can do anything to a car if you're motivated enough, like converting a Tesla Model 3 into a truck.

I, too, would never consider adding roof rails to an F56. I'd be surprised if anyone orders an F56 with roof rails because they like the look--I assume they just want their thoroughbred F56 to do a little more to earn its keep in the family.

I don't mind the look either way, but I mainly got the rails to transport lumber.

Hmmm, what do I want to do with my Mini today?

Yes, I changed mine to the shortest distance traveled and lowest speed to turn off the camera.

I back out of the garage into an alley, once I start moving forward I don't need to see what's behind me.

Maybe it's for backing over someone so you can make sure they're dead as you roll away?

I actually wish I could bring up the rear camera at any time, not just when in reverse. It's such nice quality it's a shame it can't be used as part of a dash cam setup.

Hehehehehe GMTA (I said something almost similar to my wife but …neighbor’s yappy yorkie… so I refrained from sharing here)

True. It’s a surprisingly good camera and lens.

I find that it's handy when parallel parking even when moving forward so I can see how far to pull up to make sure I'm not blocking the driveway cutout.

In my other cars I just briefly shift into reverse for that parking spot double-check.

You are surprised. Because I specifically ordered mine with roof rails mainly for aesthetic reason as I have a land Rover to haul things and such.

I also ordered my Audi A3 with roof rails back in 2006 as all the dealer ordered vehicles were not equipped with roof rails, though roof rails are almost standard in Europe.

And I certainly wouldn't buy one without roof rails.

Aren’t we glad so many options are possible? I wouldn’t have ordered the rails, but my MA never suggested (and I didn’t know about) them.

It could be worse, we could be talking politics.

I spent three days trying to configure my mini online. I knew there were options that I couldn't, for the life of me, find. I gave up and asked the sales guy if he had a list of options. 3 pdfs later, it took me 20 minutes to spec my car.

What is it about the online build at miniusa.com that's not working or confusing may I inquire?

I built and and spec'ed mine entirely online and I was able to see and choose all the options available exactly the same as what the MA at the dealership had access to.

  21. The site in Canada is even worse. Depending on where you click, you can still build a 2022; click somewhere else, and you're building a 2023. Poor list of options either way; really a subset of what's in the US site.

At least you still get the $12,000 instant rebate for critical minerals, battery components, and assembly requirements.
