I have not had a chance to look at the entire video but this is a German 2021 F55S so not exactly our 2022 SE, but check it out for more video of interiors and such.

No AM radio in this German MINI. I wonder if gas-powered US MINI Coopers have an AM radio?

They used to. My old 2016 did. I thought I read 2021s did as well.

That German guy is Bernd Körber, the head of MINI. He chose himself.

Well it is a German company and as stated that's the head guy there. I do think the German designer could be the issue for me. I'm not sure they understand the quirks I love.

Oh. Well, that makes more sense, I suppose. But, if they're going to Germanize the cars, they might as well just brand them BMWs, IMO.

In 2019, I wrote to the head of MINI design, Oliver Heilmer, begging for a hood-scoop delete option. To emphasize that the hood scoop was my only problem, I told him how wonderful the lower part of the front fascia was with its beautifully framed fog lights. I imagine when he received my letter he was already well into the design of the new front end w/o fog lights.

I get they are just fog lights and technology makes them obsolete but it was about the look. Adding LED DRL fog lights could have been the answer. Similar to the unusable tail fog lights. I'm sure many think I'm nuts, but these minor changes make less a Mini and just a mini BMW

I'll be interested in hearing more about the limits imposed by the "Electric collection". I like the look of the blue with white bonnet strips they show in the press release, but I fear that you won't be able to get that for the SE. Based on the comments in the other thread, you might only be able to get blue if you get the "Electric Collection" with the soft outline decals.

It would be interesting to get a breakdown from @bldxyz of the requirements imposed by the Collection models.

I sort of did this in the other thread:
As far as I understand, the above, according to my dealer, is true for the Mini Electric Collection, and, further:
    • The Collection is the only SE that will have Island Blue or Rooftop Grey
    • The Collection is the only SE to have the Multitone Roof (it may be that the multitone roof is required)
    • One cannot have the Multitone roof and a Moonroof (it may be that you must have multitone roof and therefore cannot have Moonroof, or it may be that with Island Blue this is true).
    • Must have the Piano Black exterior elements (no chrome)
    • Alarm is an add-on (it's free as part of an Iconic Trim, as above, you cannot have an Electric Collection with Iconic Trim)
I think that covers what I tracked. I will stress that his is second-hand info, and I'm reporting what I noted from my conversation with my dealer. He seemed to be getting that information that same day, so let's cut everyone some slack on this.

Yes - sorry - I saw that other post again today and realized you had already answered. But this is still good to have in this thread.

It seems counter-intuitive to have a set of desirable features not available in the top trim level. Why penalize the Iconic customers? Did Bernd Körber say, "We've got to find a way to sell more Signature Plus packages!"

The no-chrome package doesn't change the beltline chrome strip does it?

In all the pictures on the visual order guide, it does not get de-chromed. Which is kind of a shame to me since I want it all or nothing.

I'm happy about it, since my car will have dark paint so any chrome will pop. That's what I like about the Roulette wheels on it. Even in the pictures off the Build Tool for the 2021 in Enigmatic Black with those wheels makes all the chrome elements pop!

Those roulette wheels are great on dark Minis if I say so myself lol. I just think if they black out headlights, tail lights, door handles, grilles, scuttles, and badges that the belt line should be done too.

One video I watched said Mini is going to sell a kit for the F56 beltline. I don't know if that's true or why it couldn't be installed at the factory if it does exist. It does seem a little odd that they added a trim option that people have been clamoring for for years but skip the beltline.

Personally I like the chrome, but I'll have to see what the black trim looks like in person.
