Information about the 2022 MINI Cooper SE Electric Collection continues to seep out. It appears to be a Signature Plus trim level MINI Cooper SE with paint colors, Multitone roof colors, wheel colors, and stripes that may be unavailable on other SEs. Here are some 2022 MINI Cooper SE Electric Collection photos I found. As more photos emerge, I will add them.
Here's a video of the 2022 MINI Cooper SE Electric Collection model--well, the first part is video, the rest of it is just moving the camera around to show different parts of still photos. I suggest muting the sound--there is no voice-over to provide more information than what you can see. InsideEVs also has an article on the Electric Collection model.
As I posted in other threads, my dealer said things that support the notion that certain things are only available in this collection.... and certain choices within the collection are not offered.
First post...we went to our local dealer today to order a 2022 Mini Cooper SE. We (and buy that I mean our daughter) had our hearts set on the Island Blue color with a white roof. We want leather seats were leaning towards the the Iconic trim to get the Satellite Grey Chesterfield Leather but was up in the air until we got there. However, our dealer checked with the regional Mini rep and were told the Island Blue can only had as a special package/edition on the Sig+. Which comes with the Cloth/Leatherette seats, the funky Power Wheels and the 3 tone roof. So we ordered a 2022 SE in Chile Red, white roof, Night Jack mirrors, black Tentacle wheels, roof rails and the Iconic trim. Will add black stripes once it comes in. So bummed about the Island Blue paint only being offered as part of a package on the SE. Can others verify this?
My dealer reports the same thing. I wanted Island Blue in Iconic (with Leather seats), a Moonroof and Two-Tone Wheels. I was informed about the Mini Electric Collection deal, and posted what he told me here: https://www.insideevsforum.com/community/index.php?threads/2022-model-sneak-peek.10355/page-8
I'm mostly ok with the Electric Collection package, but that roof is a no go for me. So silly that a company that once touted its near infinite configurations wants to produce a bunch of identical cars.
Errrrr. So annoyed by this. On the other hand I worry that Island Blue will be a bit of a fad where as the Chili Red will live for ever. At least that is what we are telling our daughter
And to get Island Blue it appears you also must accept those wimpy stripes as part of the Electric Collection package. Island Blue is not a new color for MINI, so they're just being stingy by forcing customers to choose the Electric Collection package to get it on a MINI Cooper SE. We know that MINI just installed a new painting system in Plant Oxford for the 2022 models. Here's my imagined scenario: Head designer, Oliver Heilmer, came from Germany to check out the new painting system. After a conversation with the technicians who installed it he asked, "From what you've told me, this system makes it possible to spray 3 colors of paint onto the roof at the same time, right?" In my imagined scenario, I see Mr. Heilmer experimenting to decide what 3 colors would look good together. After going through a dozen body shells, he settled on San Marino Blue for the front of the roof, Pearly Aqua for the middle and Jet Black for the rear. "Obviously," he thought, "the best body color to go with my 'Multitone' roof is Island Blue." "I've achieved perfection!" he declared. "I would be sad if someone chose Island Blue but did not want my 'Multitone' roof. Therefore the 4 colors will be bonded together as the 'Electric Collection'!" To keep costs under control, MINI's bean counters ruled that the Electric Collection would be available only with the Signature Plus trim. I'll work up another imaginary scenario after MINI reveals the Rooftop Grey Electric Collection Signature Plus MINI Cooper SE. We don't yet know if that car also has a "Multitone" roof.
Oh wow, so much no for me on all of that. From the (itchy to me) cloth seats to having to have the roof (no sunroof) to the power spoke wheels. Such a shame as that color would be awesome with white rooftop and bonnet stripes and bright silver wheels
My ideal would have been Island Blue (even keeping the "wimpy" electric lead stripes*) with a Multitone roof and a Moonroof, plus Chrome highlights, Roulette two-tone wheels and leather seats (Iconic trim!). To me, the chrome would lighten it up and work well with the stripes. But I'm past it now, since I've placed my order for the 2022 in Enigmatic Black and will be happy whenever it arrives. I was debating putting black bonnet stripes on it because it might go well with all the Piano Black trim elements, but I've never seen a photograph of an Enigmatic Black Mini with Mini-provided bonnet stripes of either black or white.

Woa! #1: That's pretty darn cool and I think it will look even better with the new black details on the rest of the car! #2: That's the dealer I'm getting my car from!
All of MINI's Electric Collection press photos and the press-pack PDF have now been added to this Electric Collection web page I posted earlier.
@GvilleGuy, it sounds like you're getting your stripes installed both at the port AND at the dealership! I wonder if you can order stripes on top of stripes--particularly, traditional bonnet stripes on top of the Electric Collection's faint, hollow, mandatory bonnet stripes? Are they mandatory? Are they painted on? When are we going to see the Rooftop Grey Electric Collection's roof and stripes?
I have to say, that's a rather unfortunate choice of name for a color on a car that (usually) allows you to pick a roof color. One can just imagine an Abbott and Costello comedy skit built around the confusion that might result. Why not call it "Shingle Grey" to avoid the ambiguity?
