I am looking into buying a 2020 Niro EV. I have looked at some pictures online and I saw that the Ex Premium with the 10" display have AC vents on the far left/right corners and the ones with the 8" have also AC vents to the left/right of the screen. This 2020 has the 8" display but no vents to the side. Also it was originally bought in May 2021. Car was delivered to dealer in March 2021. does the 2021 have a different deisgn on the screen/ac vents? is this possibly a overlap 20-21 that was made at the end of 2020? Thanks in advanced!

2020 with no side vents and 8 display?

Hi! 2020 EX owner here. My car was built in late 2019 as a 2020 model. The middle photo is a 2019, not a 2020. All 2020s have the same dash design with the vents under the screen. Happy hunting!

so you have a 2019 with the vents on the side of the screen? Meaning the 2020s that have the vents on the side of the 8in ch display are late 2019/early 2020 models? The last pic is a 2020 made in October/November of 2020 but the dealer didn’t get it until may 2021.

After reading my previous reply, I realize I wasn't super clear. Sorry about that!

All 2020 models have the vents under the screen. There are no 2020s that have vents on the sides of the screen. If you see a listing for a 2020 and the photo shows vents on the sides, the listing is incorrect and the model you see is actually a 2019.

My car is a 2020 model year that was built in late 2019. My vents are under the screen since it's a 2020 model. This is really common in car manufacturing; for example, you'll see lots of 2023 models on dealer lots starting in September or October of 2022.

thanks! I understand it now. The one I have been looking at is a 2020 made in late 2020 (dealer didnt advertised it for sale until Feb 2021) car sold to first owner in May 2021. Is there a cut off from when this would be consider a 2021 instead of 2020 ? TIA

I'm sorry for the super late reply! It's probably irrelevant 6 weeks later, but I wanted to close the loop. I don't know if there's an exact cutoff date that Kia uses when transitioning to a new model year, but I know you can find your model year in the VIN number. Check the 10th character in the VIN number--if it's a K, then it's a model year 2019. L is for model year 2020, and K is for model year 2021.

My recollection is that Kia more or less skipped the 2021 model year for the Niro EV
