I was there! Thanks for sharing the pics and for sharing your wonderful Kona EV, to me it was the highlight of the event. I'm the owner of the gray Clarity that was there, it was a lot of fun and am looking forward to other EV events.
When I go to these events I'm more interested in seeing the products from traditional manufacturers that are targeted to 'regular' consumers. These types of EVs are the key to mass adoption. Sure, the Model 3 is a great product that's doing a lot for the EV industry and it's selling really well but I'd like to see more products from other brands out there and hence why I get excited whenever I see a Bolt, Leaf, etc. out there. I was specially excited to see the Kona EV because that car is not sold here in Florida so this was an unique chance to see it in person
I've bought cars out of state many times and I'm familiar with the process. It's as simple as taking a one way flight to the purchase location and driving the car home. However, the only question is if I could get my car repaired in Florida if anything breaks. I'm fairly confident in the Hyundai brand as I did have a Hyundai before with ZERO issues in 100k miles but in case that I will need a repair related to the electric powertrain, I may have to bring the car to Maryland for repair. While it would be a pain, it's certainly doable as I do have a truck and you can rent a trailer fairly cheap, so I won't need to have the car shipped there for repair.
Another note.. I was told by one of the participants that there is another Kona Electric in the Ft. Myers area, making it at least 3 Kona Electric in Florida..
Thanks for sharing your pics! I brought my new-to-me Chevy Spark EV to ours in Tallahassee, Fl. Sadly, there was no Kona Electric to check out. Or Clarity, for that matter (we had one last year, though). We did have a nice contingent of Teslas, LEAFs, and Bolts on hand, along with a couple of BMW i3's. Wish we had an i8. Love the looks of that car. Has amazing presence in person. There is also a Niro EV in the Orlando area, btw. (and it's for sale!)
Wish we could have made it to, Drive Electric Week, Oldsmar, Tampa Bay, FL We would have loved to show/share our Kona EV also, here in Florida. Thx also for the pictures.
There was also an event in Orlando but it was mid-week.. Oldsmar wasn't the closest event for me but Oldsmar had twice the registered cars than the one in Brandon, so I went to Oldsmar..
Not Florida, but we still had a good turnout for National Drive Electric Week on the 21st. It was funny seeing others before the actual event location... We easily had around 60 : Teslas, and other EVs , PHEV show up.
