What if the neutral and ground were tied together in the plug for an EVSE that's used only with the generator? Would that still pose the possibility of getting zapped? Are these neutral-ground bonding plugs for generators legal?
If there was only one outlet on the generator, that would be ok. But then you need to careful about plugging the EVSE into a badly wired outlet elsewhere...
You may think I'm being paranoid, but I see dangerous stuff on a weekly basis at work. Far too much ungrounded equipment. Oh look the metal case is 277V, again... Mostly it's thanks to people 'fixing' things. One kludge may be ok, but add something else that is faulty or kludged and then you often have something dangerous. What I do in my own basement, stays in my own basement...
