Honda has dominated the compact electrified segment with their Clarity since 2016.

The Clarity has never sold more than about 20,000 in a year in the U.S., and only reached that level once. The Bolt has broken 23,000 twice.

True but the Bolt is a subcompact hatchback, and that's a completely different car segment to the Clarity or even Prius Prime.

Just wait until Tesla puts 4680 cells into the $25,000 Model 420 hatchback and legacy OEMs are going to be crushed! ;)

I continue to be amazed by Honda's reluctance to control their electrified future.

I get the feeling they're either paranoid of getting caught short with the wrong technology (still chasing solid state dreams). Or Honda simply see this whole electrification thing as a fad.

Well based on market cap, Honda+GM is only 9.5% of Tesla's value at $1.127T. One would have to add up all other manufacturers from USA, South Korea, Japan, Germany, and China to get $1.16T. Solid state is possible, but the Ultium NCMA 8.9-0.5-0.5-0.1 modular architecture in the interim could be a solid step in the right direction. There are promising test results as compared to NCM 9-0.5-0.5 varieties.

Clearly 4680 is the future from Tesla, that's exactly why they still use 18650 batteries for Model S and X!
