My MINI just arrived to the Galveston Port today!!! Woohooo!!! Hoping to get a call this week from the dealer. I put my order in August and it is finally on its way. So EXCITED!
I lucked into an already built PHEV Countryman but it’s now been at the departure port for 16 days and counting. How long did everyone else’s stay at the port before leaving? 16 days seems like longer than usual.
That is good news to read this morning. Last night it just changed to production schedules. How fast do you think I will get a date as to when it starts? I know everyone's is different but I am just curious especially since I was told that production wouldn't begin till January. I am so glad I am not the only one
The delivery spreadsheet linked in the first post should give you an idea. Mine took about 2 weeks from getting a production # till it actually started. Once it started though, it only took 4 days to be built, and 6 days to get to the port from line off (mine sat in quality check for a tick though, presumably for a chip or 2). Then… 3wks later on a boat! Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
(first post… although been reading this forum over a month now) My MINI is in “production begins: today’s the day:“ status for more than a week now, after two months long wait to get here Waiting for progress on each step is excruciating, but I’m very thankful to all of you who post such a valuable information on this forum, it helps to cope with the wait and to learn many things that I didn’t knew about owning a EV (first one for me and super excited, can’t wait any longer).
Join the club. First Mini, first EV. Coming from a MT NB Miata, wanted something economical, ecological, but still fun to drive. Ticks all of those! Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
Same!! First EV and Mini. Wanted one since they first came to the US but during that time couldn't afford it. Been driving leased Mazda 3's for the past 6 years and my commute has gotten so boring. Was intrigued by Mazda's up and coming EV but it's pricey for only 100 mile range. Looked up available EV's and was so happy to see Mini had one
Mini's tracking system is pretty terrible, it's a mix of states & statuses which is just confusing. "Production begins" should be "Production has started", plus sub-labeling it as "today is the day..." when the state lasts at least a week makes it seem stuck. "Entering assembly line" & "Assembly in progress" should be a single item, not 2 separate ones. "Ready for transport" - what happens between this state & the next one - "Awaiting carrier assignment"? Shouldn't the former imply the latter? "Dispatched from the factory" - does this state mean something has happened or something is happening or something will happen? Consistent tense would go a long way here, you can tell this was designed by a single marketing person trying to talk themselves into believing it should make sense to everyone.
Another former MT NB Miata owner here. I, too, wanted something climate-friendly but fun to drive. Another benefit is that I get to drive it year round. To protect my NB in New England it was six to seven months of fun (and two sets of wheels/tires). It rested when the roads were covered in snow, ice, and (especially) salt. I’m still waiting on my production number.
Lots of people coming over from Miatas! I guess there are really not a lot of options for small fun cars, ICE or EV. To kill a bit of time while you wait for your car, I posted a pretty long comparison between my NA Miata and the MINI Too bad about all the salt used over on the east coast, driving my Miata in the Colorado/Oregon snow was probably the most fun I ever had with it!
Mine (switched from my original botched order from beginning of August) is expected at the dealership this weekend. I sold my Honda Clarity last night. Driving my wife's Model 3 this week. Still can't wait!
I’m in TX so mine’s coming into Galveston too. It’s been at the departure port for 16 days now. How long did yours take once it reached the port? Really need mine by the end of the year for tax purposes.
Mine's been at the departure port for about 21 days at this point - I feel your pain!! Not sure about Galveston but based on the spreadsheet, it looks like those bound for the east coast that arrived in November are all keeping each other company at the moment (mine's bound for NYC)
we are def on the same schedule! mine entered paint booth too! question is.. will it be miracle to get it before Dec 31....
mine showed production scheduled on 11/13 and today/yesterday finally entered the next step.. so about 10 days..
Omg I’m gonna be really upset if it takes 21 days for me. It looks like everyone before November had theirs ship within 3-14 days of reaching the departure port. I called MINI customer support today and it is still waiting for a boat assignment. I guess cars don’t get priority treatment during the holiday season. Hopefully it’s not some dock worker strike or something.
New member here, just put my reservation on 11/13..The person I talked to said it will take about three months...So, I'll be waiting for awhile to get any updates on order # or VIN. This will be my first Mini and EV, coming from a Toyota family.
Check in about a week or so. I was able to get a production number from dealer around two weeks after my order and can track. Was told production wouldn’t start till January but the site says it’s scheduled and when I called Mini they told me it’s scheduled for week 51 which is December 19th. I put my order in 11/1.
