coming soon. Sorry, guys. I couldn't resist. I got excited when I saw an Email from Nissan about the Ariya. And, like I wrote, the Email said, Reservations are coming soon.
Considering it is FWD, nothing to really excited about, not competitive with the ID4, Audi Q4 etron, Tesla Y or BMW i4
There is also the e-Force AWD. But, for many people who have been driving for the past 30-40 years, FWD is common place. So, I think, for most people who are considering a move up to an EV, probably don't care one way, or the other.
Pricing and specs for Norway now available for pre-order: Nissan Ariya prices in Norway: Ariya 63 kWh (FWD): 409,900 NOK (€40,018 / $47,280) Ariya 87 kWh (FWD): 499,900 NOK (€48,805 / $57,662) Ariya e-4ORCE 87 kWh (AWD): 529,900 NOK (€51,734 / $61,122) Ariya e-4ORCE 87 kWh Performance (AWD): 575,900 NOK (€56,225 / $66,428) Source: https://insideevs.com/news/532475/nissan-ariya-prices-norway/ Additionally, battery packs supplied by CATL, prismatic NMC chemistry.
If they use these prices in NA they will sell tens of this model. By the time they get it here there will mucho competition. Timing is everything.
I imagine North American prices will be lower. Think they'll really need to approach VW ID. 4 levels if they want to generate the same kind of demand.
Yes, I saw this earlier this week, and I was like . Even knowing that's the current Norway to US currency exchange, if those prices transfer to the US, I don't think I'll be getting an Ariya. 100% agree. If they don't, there won't be a lot of 'em being sold. Though, I would consider leasing. At last check back in June, it was the $40-$50K range; see https://www.tomsguide.com/news/nissan-ariya-electric-suv-revealed-in-new-images-and-it-looks-stunning But, if Norway's prices are any indication, may the good Lord have pity on us. Though, from what I have seen, and heard (I had many foreign students), the prices of cars in most other countries, are higher than in the US (in Singapore, a Toyota Corolla goes for $80,000.00 (even a Driver's License can cost $3,000.00)! They do this to help cut back the vehicle population, and pollution. But, EVs, may make a difference.
Given the pricing of the id4, if they don’t start in the 40k range, forget about it. It also takes away 100% of the argument that the “Leaf doesn’t need liquid cooled and CCS” if the New vehicle has both.
They stated that the base would start at $40k--applying that logic then the base AWD would be around $52,000--that's where my bet is. BTW I have 2 reservations for AWD ID.4's BUT I view the Ariya as a cut above.
Not sure what the Leaf has to do with this topic. But, the Ariya only has CCS, and not the other charger (sorry, can't remember the name of it). But, hopefully, the base price will be at 40K. Yep. That's my thinking too. To me, the ID.4 is kind of a, "Plain Jane" compared to most of the newer EVs coming out. And, yep. I agree with ya on that. I'm looking at the Ariya, EV6, IONIC 5, Lyriq and the ID.4. But, when I saw the EV6 at 56K, there is no way on this earth (or, in the Universe), that I would pay 56K for a Hundai.
I agree that Nissan has a much more reliable record than VW and more experience in making EV. I want something cheaper for daily driver no more than 70 miles needed. I put a reservation on a Mini Cooper SE and a Mazda MX-30 to see which one I can get. I nixed the Leaf because of no active cooling in a hot climate. I am coming out of a Bolt and am nervous of any LG pouch style batteries. I know it’s probably unfounded, but I still felt better crossing any of those EV’s off my list. Tesla’s are too expensive for me, especially with the lack of federal rebate. The Nissan Ariya would be great, but I can’t go without a car that long.
The Ariya is too expensive considering it is based on FWD with AWD as an option. With the pricing for Ionic 5 and EV6 being in same range as BMW and Audi ( there is no way I spend that money on Korean product Hyundai/Kia ) So choices would be Tesla Model 3, VW ID-4, Audi Q4 etron, BMW i4 Gran Coupe, Lyria and Mach-E. Budget really fits VW ID4, Leaf S plus, Tesla Model 3 and the Leaf is last choice as I do not like FWD dynamics but is least expensive option and 10 year track record. At Tesla Model 3 and Nissan Leaf are not having the battery fires/problems that the Chevy Bolt + Kona are having. Dan
But I question the availability of the specific charging company that VW offers. Has anyone else tried to look at the map of locations for the 3yr free charging?
Ikr? In my area of central GA, I'd have to drive 50 miles one way. So, despite the offer, I'm not sure if it's worth a 100 mile trip to "fill up". (I'd loose nearly 1/2 of it on driving back and forth).
I've been a MINI SE owner for 1-year now and have zero complaints. It is probably the most fun car I've owned. What are the wait times now for an SE? I placed my order in Jan. 2020 and waited 9 months for delivery. Get it, it's worth the wait IMO.
Just a reminder that this is a thread about het Nissan Ariya in the Ariya subforum, so let's not get to off-topic discussing other cars. Of course, it makes sense to talk about Ariya's competitors, but let's just try to keep the focus on Ariya. Thanks!
Well, as many of you probably know by now, Nissan has opened Reservations for the Ariya, https://www.insideevsforum.com/community/index.php?threads/nissan-announcing-start-of-ariya-reservations-this-week.12462/ . Unfortunately, Nissan is: 1) Limiting the Exterior/Interior colors (depends on Trim line selected; at this time, Akuki Copper IS NOT available for the AWD e-4orce version ) 2) Ariya will be available (so they say) in Fall 2022 (nearly 12 months away) 3) Priced higher than expected ($45,950 to $58,950 (less Incentives + Destination and Delivery Charges)) 4) $500.00 Reservation fee Reserve at https://www.nissanusa.com/ariya/reserve/premiere So, I'm disappointed for sure. But, still hopeful. And, most likely, I will Lease, as I am considering giving up driving.
