  1. Well, we have that here in BC, with Vancouver having the highest gas prices of any major NA city. All that does is take money out of our pockets that could have been used to save up to buy an EV (still very expensive compared to ICE cars). And it doesn't build EV charging infrastructure. All it means, that most of our driving will be within reach of home (once BC Hydro starts charging us).

So for the foreseeable future, I don't see not having an ICE car. Good news, is that we are driving it a lot less than our EV, just for trips and going off-road.

Norway uses their oil exports to subsidize EV adoption. We could do the same in Canada. It is a good way to transition away from ICE vehicles.

You never know it may make a difference.

  4. I see you have selected Ontario, and is that pricing on the phone app?
According to the website, pricing has not changed, but possible it may be updated soon

I am in eastern Ontario. The price schedule is shown on my electrify Canada app. I saw the old schedule on the app was the same as on website. the new schedule on app is perfect. It can compete with petroleum Canada which is 33c/min.

  7. You know there should be more consistency in the pricing of these DC machines. The one by my house (3 blocks away) is still $0.27 per minute

but I see by this article Ontario pays $0.33 for the same duration

It's similar to the price of gas changing between areas, ridiculous and just makes things harder to keep track of.

Dare I say it's because electricity is more expensive in Ontario?

  9. I wish that would explain why petrocan charges the same amount in Manitoba where electricity is relatively dirt cheap. I suspect they charge whatever they feel they market will tolerate.

  10. Even in BC, there are places where BC Hydros charges .35/min. Not sure why some are free and others are not. But I'll certainly take the free ones...

  12. Since getting the email from Electrify America re changes I thought I'd check what, if anything, Electrify Canada was up to. Checked the Merritt Canadian Tire site and they added a 1-90kw tier at 0.27/minute. At least now making themselves Kona competitive with PetroCan almost next door. Still $1 session fee though. Abbotsford charger still showing as Coming Soon.
