  5. Or...just run an extension cord and keep your Charging cable in the trunk

  8. Exactly. I've seen people do this, but I am not interested in having that liability hang over my head.

    Here's a video showing how to hammer a long rod and then a pipe underneath a sidewalk. However, this slip/trip-and-fall prevention doesn't address the electrical reasons for not using an extension cord to power an EVSE. I wonder how long the charging cord from an EVSE can be?

    I believe the NEC has a limit of 25 feet for the charging cable from the EVSE.

    Fellow Portlander here & future EV owner. I just put a call into the city to get the latest requirements for this type of project. Do you mind sharing the electrician you worked with? I'd prefer working with someone that has done this type of work before.
