Quirky, small cars have always been my thing, beginning with an Alfetta GT rust-bucket when I was 18, a gen-2 CRX Si, to a YJ Wrangler Laredo, through an Isuzu Stylus, then a series of VWs and finally a 2006 smart fortwo cdi cabrio since new. The smart is still here, but as unreliable as it has always been, it’s too expensive to keep fixing so it has been relegated to sunny pleasure drives. My EDD is, alas, a cream puff 94 Crapolla I originally intended as my winter sihtbox, which I bought a couple of years ago from the proverbial little old lady who only drove it to church on sunny Sundays… it was 24 years old with just 35,000 miles on the odo! I decided it’s time for a new ride, and fell in lust with the MINI SE about 30 seconds into my first test drive. It took me two weeks to decide on an Island Blue 2023 Premier Plus (aka Iconic).
