The XT4 plug-in will be revealed this week and will go on sale this Fall.

The base trim of the vehicle will be a typical ICE. But a (likely) plug-in model has been spotted testing a few times in the past year.

Bloomberg casually mentioned in an article last week on the upcoming New York International Autoshow that the XT4:
"will share the same platform as the Chevrolet Malibu and will be among the first to utilize Cadillac’s forthcoming hybrid and electric technologies."

At the Detroit Auto Show this year, Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen said that the brand would:
"get a “disproportionate share” of the 20 all-electric vehicles that GM plans to bring to market globally by 2023, he said. A few years after the first electric Cadillac goes on sale, the brand will have some kind of self-driving vehicle in the lineup as well.

“Cadillac in the future will be the technology lead brand for General Motors,” de Nysschen said. “Technologies will debut in Cadillac first and then cascade down to the other brands.”

I wonder if they're going to announce the plug-in model this year or next. I don't expect the Plug-In to be available at launch of the vehicle. But I would love to see an announcement at some point this year! Hopefully this week.

Don't disappoint, Caddy! It's about time one of the GM brands put out a Voltec SUV. Lots of people have been waiting for a very long time!

  4. Yup. No plug-in at launch. Here's the Motor1 post about it. Looks good, starts at $35-something K.

It is a slick looking crossover!

But having looked at the interior space specs, I can officially cross any future XT4 PHEV off my list as a potential Bolt replacement at the end of my lease.

Slightly more cargo space behind the seats but significantly less cargo space than the Bolt with the seats folded down.

    Bolt 56.6 cubic feet
    XT4 48.9 cubic feet

And that's before adding a battery pack! So my 2020 end of lease purchase is still either a Bolt, Buick EV or Model Y.

Still, it's a nice looking car at an affordable price. Too bad there's no word on the Plug-in yet.

Not considering the Volvo XC40 EV?

Maybe see an announcement at Beijing Autoshow later this month?

Well, nothing about the XT4, but at least one Buick will be shown off at the autoshow this month. :)

It hasn't really been on my radar to be honest, but it is a nice looking car. I might check it out if they end up being sold in my area!
