When I picked up my Niro EV I asked the salesman about getting an auto dimming homelink rear view mirror installed. He said he would check and let me know.
He let me know today that there are none available. I was hoping I could get a part number at least for the version in the Premium trim.
The mirror that I have in my EX trim is powered. It has buttons for emergency, information, and UVO so swapping that out for a homelink mirror should be a piece of cake.

Does anyone know what mirrors would be compatible? Maybe a 2018 Niro? If you ever did a search for parts for this car you would know that being brand new, there is no information on it and what is or is not compatible.

I know it is a long shot but if anyone knows I would appreciate it!

I've been trying to find one for my '19 Niro PHEV, but everything I've found so far says there isn't one. I think it's because our mirror has the UVO buttons, and the existing Homelink mirrors don't have that. There is a stand-alone Homelink transmitter available from Amazon for about $150, but I don't know if I'm going to bother. Easier (and cheaper) to just have a couple of garage door remotes in the car for the three doors I need to control.

I'm in the market for a Niro PHEV & was also disappointed to learn that it is not offered with HomeLink.
I'm not sure if I would be using EVO, so perhaps for those who don't use EV the aftermarket HL mirrors are still an option.
The 2019 Niro EV does have an available auto-dimming HomeLink mirror. I would think one could purchase this from a Kia dealer & retrofitted.

Yea, I'm surprised that Kia told me there's no Homelink mirror for the PHEV because of EVO, but the EV model has one. Doesn't make any sense.

I checked my local dealer today who had his parts guy check so hopefully this info is accurate.
The Niro BEV has a different wiring harness than the PHEV or HEV so you can't just the the BEV mirror & mount it to the other two. That said, my guess is the only difference is power for the HL function & a competent car person could probably tap power from an number of12V sources in the car & run a wire up to the mirror.

Regarding UVO & Homelink in the Niro. The AD homelink mirror in the Optima also is part of the UVO function. The Niro has no UVO function associated with its mirror. Niro UVO electronics are in the head unit.

I'm not sure where that leaves me but I am going to check on the Amazon to see if the Gentex's mirrors will work.

That's why i bought mine with the home link already installed. I don't think you will find one that works until Kia decides to offer it as an after market product. Not all the EX Premiums had it installed, which I don't understand. If it wasn't in there you got a $200.00 credit. You would think for the $200.00 they would have put it in all the editions but maybe they had a parts shortage. Same with the memory seats. They have them in the cars in Canada but not in the US.

Any luck? I am still trying to find out which will work or if there is a plug and play available

No. I am stuck in analysis paralysis on the mirror. Do I want to use UVO? If so is there a solution that will allow me to keep UVO function & use HomeLink. My gut tells me yes, probably just need an additional hot wire to mirror for HomeLink, but I'm not 100% certain and I'm, reluctant to spend $200 just to find out. Any car electrical geeks out there that can sort this out???

There are several aftermarket options for auto dimming rear view mirror with home link. You can add a compass, cabin/exterior temp gauge, and up to 4 cameras. My girlfriend moved from a Honda to a Niro EV and misses the side view cameras. Master Tailgaters had a model that allowed up to 4 camera inputs... And included two side mirror cameras. Turn on directional and bam... Video goes right to the rear view mirror. They have several model. Very easy install.

I just finished upgrading my 2017 Kia Niro with a Gentex GNTX 435 auto-dimming mirror with Homelink for a total cost of $38 (used on ebay). This mirror is identical to what I already have in my 2017 Kia Sportage and 2012 Kia Sorento. As Daniel stated above, you will need to run a 3-wire harness to (a) power the Homelink buttons with +12V constant and (b) power the autodimming feature with +12V switched and (c) connect to ground. I'd consider it an intermediate project as you will likely need to (a) tap into a fused power source at the fuse box and (b) hide the wiring from the fuse box through the dashboard, up the A-pillar, across the headliner and into the mirror. Hope this helps!

What about the power going to the stock mirror already? I cannot use any of that to power the new mirror?

You can as long as you match up the power and ground inputs to the correct positions on the new mirror. You'll have to look at the power available in the existing harness and the requirements for the new mirror.

    First post. Hi Everyone!

Bought a Niro EV 3 weeks ago. Put a Homelink mirror in it. Easy to do, took less than an hour. Bought the mirror new on eBay for $100. It was a Hyundai mirror but will work on the Kia. Part Number 1R062-ADU01.

Used a test light and found constant and switched power in the headliner, which was nice - didn't have to run power down to the fuse panel. Tapped into those and the mirror works great! See pictures for more detail.

What's included in the kit. It's supposed to be tied into the fuse panel, but that wiring harness won't be long enough.

    Constant 12V power.

    Switched power

Foam taped all the connectors, and zip tied the old connector out of the way. It's a different style connector. Also wired the ground into the bolt above.

    Done!

Nice! Was this an EX or EX Premium? I might be willing to tackle this if I had a video of more details on the installation.

It's an EX Premium. There's really not much to it. Open the sunglasses holder and there's two screws. Remove those and pull the console down. I also removed the two screws for the sun visor clips to give more room to feed the wire to the mirror. Took less than an hour to do.

Nicely done! I am interested in doing this, but had a couple of quick questions. It looks like you just used wire taps to tap into existing wires in the headliner, is that correct? Were those connectors with the wires (the black and white harnesses that had the wires you tapped into) attached to the lights/buttons in the ceiling console that was removed to do the install? How were you able to tell which wire from the mirror needed constant vs switched power - is it labeled somehow? Is there a particular size wire tap that worked best? Did you need to remove the plastic black windshield cover at the top/center of the windshield to install the new mirror?

Yes, you need to tap off the power that is being supplied to the overhead console. I used a test light to determine what had power on constant and switched. The kit I bought didn't come with any instructions, but I found a wiring schematic for the mirror online and cut the wire to make it shorter, then just traced the wires to the pin outs. It's not labeled on the connector.

The wires were pretty thin so I used the red wire tap connectors, they're meant for 18-22ga wire I believe. I also have the blue ones, but I think those are meant for 14-18ga, which is too big.

Yes, you need to remove the black cover, it's held in with little tabs, I used a plastic fastener removal tool to avoid scratching it, but you could use a screwdriver or putty knife.

Here are the instructions I found online, the last page has the connector pin outs.
