I sent this as a "suggestion" to Honda. I expect that you have heard many complaints that the HV range display on the 2018 Clarity PHEV is fictitiously high. Honda has communicated that a fix for this problem is being developed. This makes the "total range" display on the main dashboard erroneous and therefore useless. I have a suggestion. Make it user configurable to change what number shows on the main display (e.g. showing 646 in attached photo). Choices would be EV range, HV range, Total range. This would be great because I care most about EV range. On a long trip, I will rely on the fuel gauge to determine when to stop and refuel.
I'm curious about what you mean when you say "Honda has communicated that a fix for this problem is being developed". Did you receive any official message from Honda that you can post to this group?
It's in the thread labeled "Let's get the HV range problem fixed!!!" Someone got a positive response from Honda that they now see it as an issue. geo
