As we start November, it's exciting to see how the October EV and Tesla sales turned out? Is InsideEV going to get us some numbers? I predict Model 3 in the USA was under 10K??? Ouch!

Tesla dried up the US market and moved the cars to Europe as they had record sales over there. I checked several major cities and there are barely any M3's available because Tesla moved them to the European market.. It's hard to sell cars that aren't there.. When I checked for M3's in June, almost every Tesla location had several in stock.. Now... nothing.. Honolulu has 2 of them but that's about it..

Cleantechnica is hardly a source of credible sales information, but for the record, October Tesla sales slowed in Europe too from the information we have seen so far... Still some Model 3 inventory in our area...

I checked all major cities in the Southeast... Miami, Tampa, Atlanta, Houston etc.. and no M3's in stock.. Just Model S..
Last June, my local Tampa store had 5 Model 3's... 2 mid range and 3 long range..
You don't have to believe Cleantechnica to realize the reduced availability of the car.

Tesla's European sales are up by an astonishing amount this year, but clearly it has come by starving the U.S. market, and that's why the delivery time here in "the States" has gone from 2-3 weeks for all the variants of the Model 3, to (according to Tesla's latest announcement) 6-10 weeks for the Standard Range Plus and Long Range AWD and 8-10 weeks for the Performance version.

Good to see that Tesla's European sales are growing so swiftly this year, but I can't figure out why Tesla is starving the U.S. market. Is there a currency exchange situation that favors the EU market at present?

Clean Technica's take on it: "Tesla Is Starving USA Market In Favor Of EU & East Asia"

Compared to the wildly wrong B.S. posted by the TslaQ cult of which you are a member, Clean Techica's info is as reliable as the Earth turning on it axis.

Well, we don't need to waste time fact-checking that, do we? We know it's false, simply by who's making the claim.

But because there is, sadly, one rather vocal member of this forum who is regularly fooled into believing what Mr. Green posts: After posting the above, I went ahead and checked the latest report (Oct. 31) report from EV-Sales Blogspot anyway. Here's the relevant section:

In the context of these dark clouds hanging over the PEV market, few models have reasons to celebrate, but nevertheless, the Tesla lineup had a positive month, not only the Model 3 had a near record performance, staying just 431 units of its June score (39.632 units), but the other two models also climbed positions, with the Model X jumping two positions, to #15, while the Model S flagship rejoined the table, in #20.

Mr. Green is entirely predictable; his claims re Tesla's production and sales are always false.

And for all of Europe, the e-Tron is in the #8 place.

What's #1, selling nearly twice what's in 2nd place? Here's a hint: It has "Tesla" and "3" in the model name.

A TSLA stock holder, I’ll wait for the EU Gigafactory production.

What do you think will cause the Europe to have enough demand to fill a Tesla factory in europe? Right now, Fremont is severely underutilized and China Market for Model 3 will be pretty weak, evidenced by the slow uptake of Model 3 there so far. I was surprised the Chinese Model 3 is not going to be much cheaper, so it should like it will not spur demand much.

Fremont, Model S and X are running assembly 1 shift a day, down from 3 shifts in 2018. I expect Model 3 will lose volume to Model Y, and S -X will continue to lose market share to E-Tron, I-Pace, EQC, Taycan, and other newcomers. Lets face it, in Norway, the worlds most advanced EV nation E-Tron is dominating Tesla S and X 2019 YTD, and E-Tron was not even available until March. Its a rout...

  14. And for the month of Oct, E-Tron outsold M3s as well in Norway.

Impressive for E-Tron, sales in the USA rose a bit too over last month, still a bit on the disappointing side in the US, but I have been seeing other E-Tron's around recently.

EU is already banning ICE/diesels in Paris, London, and others:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phase-out_of_fossil_fuel_vehicles
Yet curiously Gigafactory 3 is entering pre-production early. Someone claimed, "trade wars are 'good and easy to win'," This policy justifies moving production local to the markets.
Since the Taycan is 'beating the Model S', don't build yesterday's car but make a better one ... 'plaid.'

Strange, we live in the same Universe but see things so differently. I love to play craps where some make DONT, others COME, and a third place complex combinations. That pretty well defines what we're doing:
    • quality of product - Teslas retain outstanding technical achievements
      • Model 3 is the efficiency champ
      • Model S going through product improvement
      • Model X makes sense if I wanted to open a limousine service
      • Superchargers the magic network that keeps on giving
    • impossible financials - TSLA continues to confound critics waiting for predicted collapse(s)
    • Elon, the clever 'crook' who gets 'tsk tsk' but never burned
So I places my bets and so far, haven't lost a cent. More recently, some of my TSLA profits have gone to buy 'Full Self Driving' and beaten the price increase from $6k to $7k. Cost avoidance is a profit that can not be taxed.

If you truly believe that TSLA is going bust, join the SHORT sellers. Put some money on the table and play the game. I have, a different bet, and feel quite comfortable with my results. Heck, I've even paid taxes on them.

Say what?!? Maybe on Bizarro Planet FUDster, but certainly not on Planet Earth, where the Fremont assembly factory is so maxxed out that they've set up partial production lines under tents in the parking lot!

The Shanghai Gigafactory gearing up for high-volume production next year, to take pressure off the Fremont factory, can't come too soon!

If you mean the way the Tesla Model 3 is outselling every other plug-in EV in Europe by such a wide margin... definitely so!

    Keep going Tesla!
    :) :) :)

Bob, Europeans in general do not like Tesla's, just like Americans, thats why you see low single digit percentage adoption. Tesla was first with appealing EV,s but not the Europeans and other companies build even better options.

I do not think Europe has enough Tesla demand to support a factory, as I said before Fremont is still underutilized. You want to have Fremont fully utilized before opening other factories, its just business sense, as if your footprint grown too large, and you cannot fully utilize all those factories, you will lose even more money, and much faster. GM is a great example of a company with too much manufacturing capacity, fortunately their management is smart, and knows ow to cut, and get rid of the dead weight. Elon stated years ago that Fremont is capable of building 700K-800K cars a year, and so far we have not even seen half that volume

I also do not think China Demand can support GF3, and I think that factory will not reach any kind of large sales capacity, and will be a drag on Tesla earnings.

As for Model S, its just a loser IMO, losing market share in huge numbers, and even a new plaid powertrain is not going to fix that. Lets see, to try to beat the Taycan they have spent months testing, and broke down a few times, and crashed.... good luck seeing that to production...

Quality of Tesla product is atrocious Software bugs galore (you yourself have posted many), poor build quality, heck they cannot even get the paint right, with rusting issues (reported right here in InsideEv)

Bob, If what you have posted in this forum is true, then you have lost $ on TSLA stock by the IRS law... First in first out...

Now, I have shorted Tesla 3 times, and came out a winner every time (quickly), If TSLA goes back over $360 I will start looking for a point to Short, but I am not greedy, I have already banked money, I am not about to be stupid or emotional and give it back. As for playing craps, I am more into Blackjack and Poker, but craps can be fun and exciting with a good shooter, using your analogy TSLA is not a good shooter.

Too late. Much too late.

I don't think there was a single thing in that long rant that was true, including that claim about never having lost money shorting TSLA.

There is a method to the madness:
    https://fablesofaesop.com/the-dog-in-the-manger.html

A Dog asleep in a manger filled with hay, was awakened by the Cattle, which came in tired and hungry from working in the field. But the Dog would not let them get near the manger, and snarled and snapped as if it were filled with the best of meat and bones, all for himself.

The Cattle looked at the Dog in disgust. “How selfish he is!” said one. “He cannot eat the hay and yet he will not let us eat it who are so hungry for it!”

Now the farmer came in. When he saw how the Dog was acting, he seized a stick and drove him out of the stable with many a blow for his selfish behavior.

    Moral

Do not grudge others what you cannot enjoy yourself.

His actions resemble the 'dog in a manger' by running off new Tesla owners:
    1. Posting Tesla specific criticisms in "General" instead of the 'Tesla' sub-forum where it will meet critical review.
    2. Stomping on new poster like this recent example: https://insideevsforum.com/community/index.php?threads/a-head-to-head-comparison.6164/#post-82904
At one time, I thought maybe a difference of opinion ... it happens. But recent posting behavior suggests another motive independent of his 'claims'. Dog in the manger more closely fits the posting pattern.
