ID.3 is slightly too big (for my tastes)

I'm not really in the market for an EV (even if the ID.3 were available in the states), being perfectly happy at present with my 2012 GTI (4 dr dsg) but what I found a bit surprising about the ID.3 is that it is 2 inches longer and 1 inch wider even then my GTI . They just keep getting bigger. I was hopeful that EVs would reverse that trend since they allow a better ratio of interior space to exterior dimensions, but not so far. I'd like my GTI to be a couple inches smaller already so going bigger yet is not what I would want. But of course that is just my preference.

Since the ID.3 is rear wheel drive, it can have a significantly tighter turning circle, so it should be easier to drive than a Golf.

That could be. I don't notice the extra width (compared to older cars) in lack of turning circle but just in being a little tighter in parking spaces and a little harder to tell if (when negotiating tight spots) if that post is going to clear the corner of the car etc. . its not a big thing but I do notice it.

Unfortunately, the ID.3 may only come to the US years from now, if at all, and they won't have a smaller offering like the E-Up. Instead, we'll be getting the ID.4, which is based on the Crozz concept and larger than the ID.3 (as the name suggests).
