No Kona yet, but the dealer emailed me that a silver one may be heading my way sometime next week. :) So in preparation for that I figured I should put in the L14-50 outlet. Fortunately you can do electrical work here in NH without having to hire an electrician. So the breaker was installed, cable pulled and outlet mounted in the garage in under an hour for <$80. The 6/3 NM-B cable was the most expensive part.

  6. Looks great, that said you should consider protecting your exposed wiring with conduit. Congrats on the new Kona :)

I considered doing that, but there really isn't anything in that area of the garage that could nick it or get close to it. The exposed cable is also < 1ft before it dives into the wall and into the basement.

    That's a 14-30 in your pic, not a 14-50..

    Attaching a pic of a 14-50..

OOPS... You're 100% right. Would have figured that out when the EVSE cord didn't fit. I grabbed this from my basement where I had an old dryer outlet. Looked a lot like an L14-50.. But I guess it wasn't. ;) Bummer.. Will need to make another trip to the hardware store and pick up the right outlet.....

Easy enough to change. I changed from 10-30 to 14-50.. Mine was more work as the 10-30 didn't have a ground wire, so I had to run one to the 14-50 outlet.

Yeah, I ended up buying a boxed outlet off Amazon, so I can easily rotate that the other way around. It wouldn't look right with the cord and the dryer outlet I had in there before. The new outlet should be here on Tuesday. We'll see who gets here first, the Kona or the outlet. ;)

It finally arrived! Not the best pics, because it's sitting in the garage with the charger connected. Silver Ultimate package, black interior. Oh, and guess which wire from the panel is going to the garage outlet? :) On the Hyundai slow charger for now on a 15A circuit (fast charger, Zencar 32A, should be here tomorrow). The wire is only 2-3 degrees C warmer than the others, but the FLIR camera picks that up nicely.

silver hood trim looks better with the silver, grey. really like how our kona EV's ports are lit up so you can see at night where the port is

My daughter pushed me to get the silver one. Not the gray or red one, which I originally wanted. Glad she did. This is a nice looking car! And I was pleasantly surprised by the (lack of) overall noise while on the highway and power/torque available. Going to dinner with the fam. tonight, so they can experience the fun as well.
Only thing that's too bad is that Apple Carplay doesn't work over Bluetooth. So I probably won't be using the cell cubby with wireless charging too much since I need to plug it in. Proclip mount ordered, should be here in a week or so. Weathertech mats are also incoming in a week or so. Going to look into getting a clear film on the front to prevent rock dings (lots of them in the Granite State, and they always seem to hit my car).

Definitely get the ppf, full hood if you can.My 2016 Audi had a rock skid across the hood on day two of ownership driving through North Carolina, lesson learned.

@Sandwedge bought these 3D Maxpider mats, now sold out:

They're like my OEM ones, just CHEAPER * Really nice carbon look, easy to clean, light,no clips .

They do look nice. I've had the Weathertech mats, or rather, buckets, in my cars for a few years now, and they're great. They fit exactly and stand up to the nasty winter weather we get here.
I'm going to gather some quotes next week for some places that do the ppf. Depending on the cost, I'll see what I can and cannot do.. I did see one place also offered it on the windshield. I thought that was interesting. Supposedly helps against chips and cracks when rocks hit it.

  23. If you undo that strap above the panel and separate the cable feeding the EVSE it will run cooler (better ventilation) and avoid inducing heat into the adjacent cables. Same with the #8 cable feeding the Zencar - are you getting the adjustable one?
