I think what they mean is that their Honda Clarity server is down or the connection is fd's up on their end. My connection has not updated since 9/5 at 8:37 pm. The Android app was last up dated on 7/19 and has been working fine since the last up date.

This thread makes it clear that it is not client side problems (nor car, phone or app updates), but server side issues.

I have emailed [email protected] which is the address for app support at the Play Store.

Most likely although it still works for some people which is why one theory is that it is account related.

Honda mailed a notice to owners and they referred to it as a recall.

Called in the morning and they had no clue. Someone would call me in 48 hours... Maybe now they figured out it's an actual problem...

Odd thing is I noticed the Odometer is updating. EV and HV range has not. Time of last update is still 9/5/19 10ish pm

  8. Yep. Fixed.

Just updated the state of charge and correctly showed the location as Peru, IN, where Karen is with the car.

They don't refer to it as a recall in the Service Bulletins themselves, although most of the bulletins indicate that affected customers will be notified. But from what you are saying they use the word recall in the letter that they send out.

There are no NHTSA recalls listed for Clarity Plug-In or Electric, only a couple for the Fuel Cell version. I remember one of the FCV recalls was for potential water pump corrosion I don't know what the others were.

Not working in Michigan. Update odometer - so server, account and telemetrics is working. Not updating range or location - so some data feed is broken.

I have always suspected that odometer is via Bluetooth. People have had problems with odometer not updating even when SOC and charge status do, and in this case when SOC and charge status stopped worked for many of us, odometer still worked. Just seems disconnected from the other items.

Aeris is the cellular data network for HondaLink, which appear to be handled on AT&T's network. The question is does HondaLink use 3G which will someday soon be shut down, or is it using LTE. I wonder if the disruption had anything to do with the eventual 3G shutdown (anytime between now and 12/31/2021), or if it was just a server hiccup. Presumably the latter.

By the way, FYI: Aeris sends Honda data to Verisk Analytics who sells data to the insurance industry.

EDIT: I think I found the answer to my own question. HondaLink in current gen cars are likely LTE through AT&T. Presumably Aeris is still the middle man.

Not everyone experienced the problem so it was more likely a problem with certain accounts not a problem with the cellular network.
