I am new to the Clarity and every article about it catches my eye. This morning I came across some EV, PhV, Hybrid spreadsheet with sales figures. The Clarity was outselling the Ford Fusion Energy two to one. With numbers like "Clarity, 1000 units per month to Fusion
Energy 500 per month. I have only seen, one other Clarity so far, since I started looking. How many owners are on this forum? Is 12000 per year about right for Clarity? Wondering what the future outlook for this vehicle is?

Claritys are like unicorns here in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Last month I went to Kansas City to buy mine because no dealer in this region had one.

Really, I went to Chicago from Kansas City to get mine on 6/1. KC dealers were not willing to come down on the price that Chicago dealer gave me on touring. From which dealer in KC you got yours?

Lee's Summit Honda gave me about $14,000 trade-in on a 2017 Accord Hybrid with 95,000 miles (and some minor body damage) and discounted the Clarity about $6,500. Funny, they had one Clarity Base and one Touring model in stock for six months unsold and both went on consecutive days about four weeks ago. I felt it was as good a deal as I could get. They also offered 0% financing for 60 months. The Accord was a terrific car but my previous two Civic Hybrids had the IMA batteries fail at 115,00 and 92,000 miles.

I got touring for 28300 in Chicago. No tradeins. 0% that you got is very good.

I just replaced the second IMA battery in my 89K mile 2006 Insight. Those air-cooled NiMH batteries are nowhere near as well protected as the liquid-cooled Li-Ion battery in the Clarity.

It would be nice to know the cooling system strategy. I can see the liquid warming up the battery but not too sure how effective at cooling would be in a very hot climate.

Well, there's no refrigeration going on, so the battery can never be cooler than the ambient temperature, but that must be cool enough for Honda to not be worried about shipping and replacing those $4,700 batteries.

Well I’m in Texas so only time will tell. Of course I am now driving Soul EV most of the time now. Also trying to let it sit to bring down average mileage in it. Since the Soul EV is used (and paid for) and it’s residual was so low I’m not as concerned about the value lost on it as I am the Clarity which still has a loan on it.

I'm thinking the cooling circulation pump probably runs at times during charging and maybe under heavy load. I would be great if we had a Honda PHV/Hybrid tech on the forum. But I am sure he would be constantly answering questions.....and has enough fun at work already.

Are you expecting every owner to reply to this thread and you’re gonna count us all up?

Just watched a video saying all 2019 Claritys were sold out. I could only find one new 2018 base model and some used 2018's. Glad to hear there were 19's. My dealer said the 2019's had not been released yet. That was when I was looking at a new 2018 on the lot that was built in Dec. 2017.

According to Cargurus.com there are currently 961 2019's and 163 2018's sitting on dealers lots in the U.S. at the moment. All of the 2019's are in California and east coast states. The 2018's are scattered around the country.

Here is a Honda dealers response to the Question: "Is this car discontinued ? I find no dealers selling any 2019's. Response: "It's not discontinued. They just haven't released the 2019's yet". I still have the text on my phone, it was dated
Thursday July 11, 2019. Thanks for your response.

I just clicked on a Cargurus 2019 Honda Clarity for sale used and this is what came up. I went ahead and just bought my 2018 last week. I was looking, researching and asking questions. I have know Idea why the Honda dealer said that?

Side note: I had Googled and searched for
Clarity problems, concerns and didn't come up with any either, until I searched
crash testing and found the National Highway safety complaints. I'm an owner now...Like my Clarity very much, this past week.

  23. I bought a 2019 a month ago, so they have certainly been released!
