    Many States offer financial incentives to buyers of EVs (including motorcycles!), as does the Federal government, municipal governments, and counties.

    It can get a little complicated trying to keep it all straight, but Plug In America (PIA) has a great interactive tool to help with that.

    doesn't look like much for Texas unless income below certain level.

    Looking that income-related program, it looks like a lot of people would be eligible. But, those same people probably can't swing a new electric car to take advantage of the rebate. Maybe a two-year old Leaf might work, I guess.

    This is a good program for those who purchase an EV and are looking to replace an ICE. Especially since this program allows you to purchase an EV or Hybrid as old as a 2015 MY. :)

    It should also be mentioned that in Texas starting in the spring of 2018, the actual EV rebate program will be funded and active again. If it works similar to the program from 2014-2016, it will most likely be eligible for leases and purchases on new vehicles from Texas dealerships and will not have income requirements. You will likely receive your rebate in the form of a check after filling out the proper forms.

    I purchased my Bolt several months after the new program was announced... but before I knew it would not start until 2018. There is talk of this being made available for vehicles purchased in 2017 and early 2018 also... but I'm not getting my hopes up too high. So unless you are buying from out of state (aka getting a Tesla) it would probably be smart for any Texans to wait until next spring to purchase.

    "Light-Duty Motor Vehicle Purchase or Lease Incentive Program (LDPLI)

    The Light-Duty Motor Vehicle Purchase or Lease Incentive Program (LDPLI) will provide rebate incentives statewide to persons who purchase or lease an eligible new light-duty motor vehicle powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), or hydrogen fuel cells or other electric drives (plug-in or plug-in hybrid). Only vehicles purchased in Texas are eligible for the incentive.

    Applications may not be submitted for funding consideration at this time. We anticipate the grant round opening in Spring 2018. Please check back for updated LDPLI program information."
