Anyone know how to turn off the annoying passenger airbag light?

Surprisingly, that does work, but if one's not available, what then???

I don't have the Clarity yet but on my current car, the only time when the Passenger Airbag lights up is when there is something light on the seat like a child which could be injured by airbag deployment thus notifying you that the airbag is turned off. Is the Clarity different? If not, just remove whatever is on the passenger seat to the back seat and the light should turn off.

  6. Put little post-it note over it?

The light’s on in my car whenever no one is in the front passenger seat. Is this normal behavior for the light? And black electrical tape does work, of course, but looks pretty tacky in a car whose interior is as classy as the Clarity’s. Put it on for a few days, then took it off; couldn’t stand the look...

This is the way my Hyundai works. I just ignore it.

The light goes out when a passenger is seating in the seat. So I would say yes that's the way it's suppose to work.

From Page 67 of the owner manual,
"If the front passenger’s seat is empty, the passenger’s front airbag will not deploy
and the indicator will come on."

Just checked my Elantra, it works the same but only the 'Off' light up. I guess my brain just ignored it after 6 years driving the car

Thanks, iluvscuba. Guess it’s just normal operation. Missed that in the manual.

If you have a small child in the front passenger seat, you would want a visual indicator showing that the air bag is turned off. In my old truck, you turn the air bag off with the ignition key.

    Page 67:

When the passenger front airbag off
    indicator comes on
The indicator comes on to alert you that the
passenger’s front airbag has been turned off.
This occurs when the weight sensors detect
about 65 lbs (29 kg) or less, the weight of an
infant or small child, on the seat.
