Every light in our Claritys is a LED except the 4 vanity lights on the 2 visors.
I know the draw of these light is infinitesimal and that they are rarely on, but hey, it’s the principle of the thing!
Just can’t sleep at night knowing there are incandescent bulbs in my high tech Clarity.

So, I just ordered 4 LED bulbs (F30-WHP-12V: 12V) from SuperbrightLEDs.com. They are $2.49 each and total w shipping for 4 is $13.71.
Here is the URL for any other geeky, OCD Clarity owners:

To replace just remove the cover. It pops off by gently prying at top side where there is a small opening just for that purpose. Once popped out rotate top toward you a little and pull out. Replace by inserting tabs at bottom first and pushing the top in. This sequence will hopefully keep you from breaking off any of the tabs.

Anybody else want to join me in the insane asylum?

I don’t really have OCD, I have CDO. It’s like OCD but the letters are in the @*€#^& correct order!!

Well, if you are applying your makeup on the way to work, those incandescent bulbs can get really hot. :)

LOL, I'm huge on LED bulbs myself. I replaced all the interior bulbs on my previous vehicles with LEDs.

I want to replace all non-led bulbs on my Leaf, like the high beams, but I am concerned I will screw something up. Eventually I will build up the nerve, especially since it is a cheap upgrade.

Headlights and high beams are a different proposition. Simply dropping in a LED bulb in place of a halogen may not work due to the different light distribution pattern. While the bulb may fit, it may not cast a broad enough beam to safely illuminate the road and signs.

The other issue is heat. The LED bulbs that are bright enough for driving use get very hot and need the right kind of heatsinks and enclosure for proper cooling.

I’m crazy enough to do it. How about letting us know if the LED light output is sufficient after you do the upgrade.

You also want a similar color temperature bulb relative to the stock bulb. Since these are vanity bulbs, you’d like a warm temperature, not a cool, blue look like some LEDs.

Ken7, you are correct on color temp. Few women like how they look under flourorescent or bluish tinted LED lighting.
Unlike most LEDs, this one is so special iced that it only comes in one model. Will post how it appears when I get it. I suspect it will be cool white not warm white and not bluish. Time will tell.

Ken, I don’t even like how I look with those bluish LEDs, so I know what my wife’s reaction would be. ;)

I look forward to hearing how it works out.

Glockgirl, if you backup to my original post you will find a link to SuperbrightLEDs. I ordered 4 and am waiting on them to arrive. I will post results when they come in.

That looks like a fuse (if your post wasn’t tongue in cheek). ;)

The color temperature of the SuperbrightLEDs is 6500K. This is like sunlight (very blue), so if you want warm white, these won't do. That said, I've ordered them, too, hoping that it won't be too noticeable. We'll see...

Just received and installed the SuperBright LEDs I posted about. They were the exact size of the OEM filament “fuse” size lights. Went in perfect and took all of 5 min. They are much brighter than the OEMs and I do not find them bluish at all. I’d call them cool white. They are just slightly whiter than our convenience lights which I thought were white but look slightly warmer than these.

One thing to note: these LEDs are polarity specific. Touch them to the contacts before pressing them in place and if they don’t light up just reverse them. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Also my original instructions on removal and reinstalling were incorrect. Removal is as stated from prying on cut out on outside top edge but you reinstall by putting the tabs on the top of the cover in first and then you snap in the bottom.

Here are some before and after pix. My apologies for the over exposure and blooming of the light intensity. In real life the OEMs are dim and the LEDs bright. But the colors are representative of how they actually appear. Also included a pix of the opaque cover so you wil know what you’re prying against. I went slow with a dental pik and didn’t break any tabs off.

Bottom line-I don’t think they are blue, just cool white, and so I don’t think the Missus will make you sleep on the sofa if you install these. I’m very happy w them.

Thanks. I presume your picture is showing the led’s on the driver’s side and the original bulbs on the passenger side.
