I've had my Clarity for 6 months now(still love it). In the first week of ownership I noticed that there's a gap between the driver side A-pillar and the dash(see pic). This might be because the dash is about 1/2 inch lower on the driver's side. In my case, even though i didn't mind the gap too much, it was causing an annoying rattling sound that I wanted fixed. I searched through our forum, and noticed that others have raised concerns about this issue, but I haven't seen a dedicated thread for it.

The first time I took it to the dealer, they gave me some BS that "some tolerance issues are natural" and that there was no fix. When I took it to a different dealership, they acknowledged the issue, and installed a new A-pillar as a fix. One day later, that A-pillar popped out near the dash creating the same Gap.

So before I make my 3rd appointment, I was wondering, has anyone successfully fixed this gap issue?

I had the same problem with the gap and the rattling sound from the speaker in the A-pillar. My dealer installed extra padding around the speaker and that fixed the rattling sound. However, I still have the gap, which doesn't bother me nearly as much as the noise.

Exactly the same gap issue here, the same BS from the dealer. In addition my car has a rattle from the speaker located in the A pillar that is driving me crazy, wich is worst when you drive in NYC roads.

Last time I took it to the dealer they wrap the speaker in foam tape but I think they did a bad job. So next time I will tell them again to fix it.

I'm in NYC also and that rattle drives me crazy too, especially coz its so quite in the cabin. In my case, its not the speaker that's rattling i think. It sounds more like rattling caused by 2 loose plastic pieces, in this case the dash and pillar.

I've got the same rattle in the driver's side pillar. Only notice it on really rough stretches of road. Placing my hand around the tweeter in the pillar quiets it.

I can confirm another case of that gap, I didn't even consider that could be a widespread issue.

I guess I am in "luxury" not having to deal with any noise or fit issues compared to my past Land Rover.

My Land Rover which was the worst car I have had since the 1980s GM cars ...

Regarding the dashboard gap...several folks have mentioned this issue in the past but Honda USA has up till now refused to recognize it as an issue.

Some folks have said dealers don't do anything about it. One fellow was successful in having his dealer fix it. Another owner fixed it himself.

Try Honda USA and see if they will help. The more folks who bring it to their attention...one never knows. It's an obvious defect in some cars.

    Keep us posted.

    Good luck!

+1 on @Clarity_Newbie ’s suggestion. Last month I made an email ticket with Honda USA over the newly updated Honda Link not updating with the odometer milage and SOC all the time. Lo and behold a very nice Miss Miranda from Honda took the effort to call me twice until she got a hold of me. By that time it has corrected itself, but we had a very nice chat. I call that surprising great customer service.

No rattling here, but do have the gap which I noticed not too long ago when I was wiring a dash cam.

So was going to ask the dealer about it, but it implied I removed the wiring for the dash cam first or they'll claim it was it. So is there a fix for the gap?

Just got back from the dealer. They did try the annoying "the gap's part of the design" on me but I wasn't having any of that. I spoke to the tech, and he said he didn't know what gap I was referring to, which was weird since they had done the pillar repair on my car initially. I showed him the differences between the driver and passenger pillar, and how the driver side was clearly popping out. He took the A-pillar out and and reinstalled. Not a glamorous fix, but it looks normal. I have to wait and see if the fix will actually take this time. (Pic Attached)

Is there a fix we can perform outside of the dealer....can we move the pillar or dash a couple mm without breaking anything?

I fixed my pillar rattle by placing a small piece of foam tape into the gap at the bottom of the A pillar plastic where it meets the dash near the windshield. Have driven on the same rough roads and no more rattle.

If you remove the drivers side "A" pillar, you will see a couple bolts that can be removed and then the dash can be somewhat manipulated. I believe one fellow had to take off part of the trim in the front as well. Not real hard to take the "A" pillar off to at least give it a look to see if you want to give it a try.

At this point...you can also see if manipulating the plastic cover will "cover it up". The problem is the front end of the dash on the drivers side is about 3/4 of an inch lower than where the passenger side is.

    Hope this helps.

I had the same gap issue on the driver side A pillar. My local dealership replaced that part and the gap is gone. The dealer submitted the warranty work as the part being slightly deformed.
