Hello all, I bought my clarity this week and when I was purchasing it I asked the sales guys if all the service bulletins were applied. He thought they had and he would check and give us a call if they had not. Well it has been several days and no call, I won't say if they did it or did not but is there a way for me to check what updated have been applied to the car? FYI, I installed the Honda link app and got it verified with no bulletins listed in the car.

The only way to check for the HV range update is to fill the tank and see an unreasonably high number of HV miles predicted. However, to get to that point you need to put some battery-powered miles on the car to make it think you're getting fabulous gas mileage and then some engine-powered miles on the car to use up some gas so you can take it to the gas station. Then, after filling the tank, you'll see something like 500-1000 miles of available HV range if the HV Range update has not been applied.

I don't know any guaranteed way to check for the other updates unless your dealer can find out how to use their computer to check (and your dealer sounds clueless).

I wish Honda tracked the applied updates by VIN # on the myHonda website.
Other car manufacturers like Toyota (for Lexus) track and display all work done by their dealers on the owners website.

I would just schedule to have them load Bulletins 18-069 (HV Mileage Issue) and 18-097 (L2 Faulty Public Charging).

just had the 18-069 completed and am currently checking the fuel mileage by not using any added electric by running electric gauge down to just above the 1/2mark and the ev mileage to 25. Now run on HV mode after holding the HV select button in for a few seconds. Run this way for remainder of test until and after filling the gas tank. Record odometer mileage and continue run in the HV mode, EV mileage will stay on 25 miles. Run a considerable distance at the conditions you wish to check the mileage. Will report back with my findings.
    How do I know if I need 18-097 ?

If you experience charging interruptions at public L2 stations (typically with dual port chargers), you definitely need 18-097. Even if you solely use dedicated charging, IMO, every owner should have this bulletin completed.

Yesterday (10/4/2018), my wife had another Multiple Systems Warnings episode. This time I was not there to reset things so I decided to call the dealer and get the fix (TSB 18-079) and well as the HV mileage update (TSB 18-069). The service adviser was surprised at my call as just a few minutes earlier, he was given notice of a recall campaign to fix these (and a couple of other) issues. I had the software updates done this afternoon (10/5/2018) and got paper copies of the four (4) relevant Service Bulletins:

    18-089: EVTC & 3-way Valve software update for DTC's P100C, P0010, and P26A3 (this replaces 18-079)
    18-090: Climate Control Unit Replacement
18-091: Driver Display Software Update (Mileage) (this replaces 18-069)
    18-096: Warranty Information CD

The parts were ordered so that the service needed for 18-090 and 18-096 could be done in a future visit.

All the Service Bulletins are dated 10/4/2018 except for 18-091 which is dated 9/21/2018. The four mentioned Service Bulletins are all lumped together (all mentioned in all Service Bulletins) and the owners all affected vehicles (determined by VIN) will be sent a notification of the campaign.

Thanks for the update! The MSW episode my wife experienced disabled the car from starting and moving out of the parking stall from her work. We had to wait almost 3 hours for the vehicle to recover before we were to able to drive it home. We'll be on the lookout for these other TSB's if they're VIN specific.

This is interesting because it provides a date/time for notification to dealers of the recall campaign. I wonder when I'll get the letter from Honda, because I know at least one of the actions applies to my car.

I'm glad Honda is addressing these issues in a timely fashion. I know how long it takes to troubleshoot problems, engineer the fix and implement a recall so this turnaround is pretty quick considering how low volume the car is.

So they have a second HV range update? I wonder if it fixes the slow to respond fuel gauge and maybe the never increase range estimate (I am fine with that, but I know some don't like it)

What is the climate control replacement?

Thanks for reporting on this. I will be looking forward to a recall I guess.

Here is the official SB. Print this and give it to your dealer. It clearly states all 2018 Clarities need this .

    Hope this helps.

I just got copies of some revised service bulletins. Had some trouble finding them, so I will post here in case others need them, too.

In March, Honda sent me these four SBs by mail, I suppose because I had not yet brought the car in to have them applied (well three get applied; the fourth is just a new warranty CD).

Is there a way to find out yourself whether a service bulletin has been applied to your car or not.

Not that I know of and has not been posted here either.
The only way seems to be to have a dealer hook it up to their i-HDS. I don’t think it will even pull up on the service advisor’s computer, although he can pull up past service visits and check if they were done. However that is not a guarantee that they have been successfully applied since more than I person has been told one was applied but it was done incorrectly and did not work so they had to go back and have it redone.
So I think the only reliable way to know is by connection to the i-HDS.

My dealer is telling me that there are no active campaign or recalls for my car. He gave me a VIN inquiry report showing that there are no active recalls. Is there a chance that since it is a new car, although 2018 model, it came from the factory with the latest updates?

It used to be that 18-097 (charging issues) did not come up on the list of applicable SBs when you went in by VIN, but if you looked at the SB it said it was applicable to all VINs. So applicable but not required.

One would hope that newly manufactured vehicles would have the updates applied. If it were me, I would ask the dealer to use the i-HDS and tell me which updates had been applied to my specific vehicle. Your dealer is telling you that these updates are not applicable to you, but I find that difficult to believe.

The current list is posted in several threads here; I think it is
    18-089: EVTC & 3-way Valve software update for DTC's P100C, P0010, and P26A3 (this replaces 18-079)
18-090: 6VT00, EVTC Failure Misdirection PUD
18-091: Driver Display Software Update (Mileage) (this replaces 18-069)
18-096: 6CW00, Emissions Warranty CD Product Update
18-097, charging problems (sensitivity to power fluctuations at public chargers)
