I've noticed that some interpersonal issues occur when an advocate for one technology wanders into a sub-forums of another alternate technology. I don't like to see anyone banned from all forums but would suggest if they could be 'corralled' into sub-forums ... we might get the advantage of their energy without the bile. Specific examples:
    • two fuel-cell advocates
    • one iPace advocate
I would prefer to visit them in their advocacy sub-forums versus them coming into others and picking a fight.

  3. I don't believe we can corral or ban people from specific parts of the Forum. If we have a sub-forum for a specific brand, I try to keep a rein on non-fans making unnecessarily disparaging posts in them.

Need shorter search terms allowed. I was searching for OBD and OBD-II and was unable to get results.
With so many features like LKA and BSM on an automotive site, we need to be able to search using 3 letters.

  5. This is something I was able to change myself, so I did. Let's try it out for a while.

Hey that's great news. This will help quite a bit. I had forgotten about being able to do a forum search from Google.

  8. Walt R, this issue has been addressed, but I wanted to check back to see if you are still having any problems.

Other than the login for comments, I'm pretty happy with the updated 'News' layout. I notice my forum credentials don't work for posting comments but the others work well enough.

I'm also pretty happy with the updated News site. We now have real logins, which means nobody will be duplicating anybody else's login name, and my Gravatar avatar is back, displayed beside my deathless prose comments! I missed seeing that with the old setup.

Too bad that seeing the down-vote count hasn't been enabled for ordinary mortals, but I found a Firefox extension for Disqus which will make that display. I've only been using that for a few minutes, but so far it seems to be working seamlessly.

Also, it's good that now when you reply to someone else's comment, it displays who you're responding too. That is a great help!

However, Domenick, I'd like to draw your attention to one problem with navigation: If you follow the link to see the original comment which is being replied to, that works fine; but when you try to return to your previous place, you get kicked out instead, and you have to re-load the page. This is annoying in a long discussion thread where you have to repeatedly click on links to display more comments; it's hard to find your place again on a long page of comments, the place at which you were reading before you got kicked out.

I hope that either this will be changed so the "back" button will return you to your previous place on the page, or else that there is or will be some sort of bookmark function to make it easy to find your place on the page again.

  11. This is a huge problem for our moderators as well. Hopefully can have the devs take a look at fixing it this week.

FYI, as of the last few weeks I still see the same behavior. Going to the main page has become my habit, but when I remember to test this by going straight to a forum page, I am not logged in. If I follow a link in an email notification direct to a thread, however, I am logged in.

Can't use the Android app anymore. Something about Tapatalk licensing.

  15. Yeah, the app is down at the moment. Hopefully, it will be back up on Tuesday.

Forgive me, the forum posting instructions are not very intuitive. I am not replying to anything, I just wanted to add a topic to the "Bugs" in MYEV. That is, it is as important for we who are interested in EVs, especially buying them, that EVERY vehicle's charging options are listed. It's as important as GAS or DIESEL specs in an ICE car. I've noticed that CARVANA (likely a high paying user) seems oblivious to this. Some of their cars are spec'd properly, but I see sooo many missing CCS or CHAdeMO or eve DC charging listed even if they are so equipped.

  17. Thanks for that, Bill. I've passed your suggestion onto MYEV.com staff.

I also added that I'd like to see info about the current state of battery health. The LEAF, for example, should have the numbers of battery bars left and a photo of the display showing them.

When I have been logged in for a long time on the main site, and I go to post under an article I sometimes get an error message stating that I must be an authenticated user to post. I have been logging in under InsideEVs not Disqus. The only way to post is to log out, then I get another error message about a missing page. So then I do a refresh and finally log back in (takes a long time as Disqus takes a long time to load) and of course by then my original post has been lost and I have to find the location and do it again.

  19. Ah, this is about InsideEVs.com news site, not the Forum.

I find the system can be a bit confusing sometimes as well, since I use a moderator account and a personal one. It should stay with the account that logged in with, though. So, I would consider just logging into Disqus and not logging into the site.

I understand that you work with the Forum and not the News site, however I do not know how to contact them and make my complaint. You are readily accessible. Can you provide a link for me to complain to them? I know I can live with a workaround but that doesn't mean the issue should be ignored.

  21. They can be reached at: [email protected]

  22. Finally! The app is back up.
That took a ridiculously long time, but it shouldn't happen again.

I haven't received the newsletter for over two weeks now. Can anybody help me?
