Have not been able to file my taxes because of a delay in Form 8936. Last week it was delayed til 2/15 and now is showing 2/23 as the available date.
TurboTax lets you enter the info, but catches the missing form during the review.

I won't file until near the April 15th deadline, but thanks for the heads up.

I could be wrong....but I have access to 8936 in turbo tax for 2017 taxes...I tried it for fun and it gave me the deduction. Too bad I have to wait until 2018 tax year.

Yes - It works in TT. I bought my Clarity on 12/30/17 and TT routinely handled it. One problem though is that the form is not ready yet to file. TT says it will be available end Feb.

Yes, I am waiting to submit too, giving the government my $7500 free loan until that form is ready. Also, the charging station form isn't working for me yet, anyone else having any luck? TurboTax

If it gets to 4/15, I'll be concerned. ;)

I do so hate loose ends, though. Especially those caused by someone else.

I'm worried that the form delay means they are changing something and I won't get the big refund TT is telling me I'm going to get. Someone calm my nerves!

Argh! Now the IRS site is showing 3/15 for the form availability. Wonder what's going on? Maybe they are delaying the large refunds as long as possible.

Urghh!!!!!!!!! I want to get this off my desk!!! I wonder if there are any work arounds in TT. E.G. - Filing electronically, claiming the credit without the form and then filing a supplement. I note that TT clearly shows the credit on lines 54 and 55 of my printed 1040 form.

Looking a little closer at the IRS list of forms release dates, I see that the very delayed forms are most, if not all, for tax credits. I suspect the reason for the delay is so they can wait as long as possible to give us our refunds. It seems to be paying off to have elected this type of businessman, one who will not miss an opportunity to take advantage of people in a business deal. Ironically, I think many people voted for him for just that reason. Sorry for the political commentary; I just couldn't resist.

Or it could be nothing more than the typical glacial speed that the IRS moves at, a far more likely scenario, since that’s the way they’ve always been...when they’re not busy targeting conservative groups (hello, Lois Lerner).

The funny thing is, I lost count of how many posts I read on Tesla forums where people were convinced there wouldn’t even be a continuation of tax credits under the new administration. How’d that prediction work out? Gotta love it. :)

    Sorry, couldn’t resist. ;)

Back on topic, does anyone know the tax form used for claiming the credit for the installation of charging equipment? I called the IRS yesterday and they weren’t sure.

I just checked. The 2017 Form 8936 is available on the IRS website.
Does this mean that the issue is that TT has not included it yet in their software? That would make it a TT issue.

Just posted to IRS site on Friday. Hope this means TT will have it sooner than 3/8.
