Hi guys & gals, New owner of Clarity plug-in and just noticed my dealer failed to complete several things in the Clarity PDI that I saw in other thread. So far I have only discovered these: #8 Body Plugs (Missing all 4 body plugs, none installed) #10 Check tire pressure (Tire pressure was set to 50 psi instead of 36 psi) #19 Check charging cable (Cable was sealed in the trunk, never been opened) #20 Charge Li-ion battery (The battery only got 2 bars and less than 5 miles of range) Some items I will never be able to check since they require Honda tools/software but this dealer definitely lost my trust and I don't want to bring the car back for service there. So, here's the question: Is there any experienced & trust-worthy dealer in Los Angeles and/or Orange County area that you would recommend to bring the Clarity in for service and TSB updates? More specifically I'm in Anaheim 92805 area but I'm willing to go farther if there's a good dealer in the nearby counties. (Also, what would you suggest if this happened to you? I don't really want to bring the car back to the place where I purchased it from but would other dealer re-do the PDI for the car that is not delivered by them? I doubt it.) Thank you in advance & drive safe!
I found that the items listed above are supposed to be done at PDI but I can see some dealers are not very thorough. When I picked up my Clarity, I saw the empty EV charge level and I immediately took it to the service dept's L2 charger and gave it a full charge before I left. The service tech stopped me asked why I was in their dept without an employee escort but became nice after I said I am buying the car. Asking about free charging for customers, the service tech said they don't have any available - only 1 for service dept use. Compared to other dealers (Nissan, Toyota, Ford, Chevy) Honda does not seem to have much customer charge infrastructure.... As for other items, I checked for them (thanks to this forum's awesome info) while I was waiting on F&I. Gave me something to do because the wait time was over an hour. Plugs were installed by sales person, I used my pressure gauge to adjust the tire pressures, and made sure the L1 OEM charger w/ air compressor was in the trunk. As for a different Honda dealer - try Norm Reeves Cerritos Superstore - they have a massive service dept and give out free oil change coupons via email. I have been happy with getting my 2013 Pilot serviced there for years. Gotta wait about a year for my Clarity to get it's oil service done.
Thanks a lot @4sallypat I told my sales person that my battery is almost depleted and he told me they only have 1 or 2 and both being used by service department. It’s kind of sad to see some dealers are taking things super easy and not stick to the process which they should follow. I’ve heard good things about Norm Reeves and will definitely visit them for services. Thanks again for the info. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
You should have asked your salesman, "So what, I should have made an appointment at your service department before purchasing my car?"
Back to dealer now, they can’t find the copy of PDI booklet for my car and only print out a sheet stating PDI has been completed (which is not the case at all). Now they’re gonna have another PDI technician re-do the PDI and verify everything is done correctly. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
I am sure your selling dealer will do everything possible as they would like to earn their coveted CSI score as perfect as possible because it's tied to their bonus cash......
I suggest NOT using Honda Culver City. I am very dissatisfied with them. If you get a good suggestion, let me know. In general, I avoid dealerships like crazy when I need service. I'm not sure if I'm roped into going to the dealer with this Clarity. I prefer not.
@4sallypat they did re-do the PDI but with a fair amount of pressure form me, and I doubt they will get it done in such a short time without me mentioning the survey, sign.
@ozy, all we can do is find a better dealer to go to. I will try Norm Reeves next time as 4sallypat suggested, perhaps you can try to find a better one around you.
Purchased & serviced mine at Autonation Honda in Costa Mesa, also serviced at Honda Rancho Santa Margarita. Both did a good job.
