I use a Level 2 TurboCord on three other plug-ins. We brought a Clarity Plug-In home yesterday and the TurboCord will not charge it. The Claity charged with the Level 2 at the dealer and charges with a Level 1. The TurboCord locks in place but does not stat charging. Has anyone else had experinece with a Clarity and a Level 2 TurboCord? Any suggestions?

I occasionally use my Aerovironment TurboCord as a level 2 charger with my Clarity. Works fine, but I use it on a 20A, 240V outlet. So, first test the outlet to make sure all is well there. Then, make sure the blue light on the TurboCord is on, indicating it's ready to supply power. Then, make sure your Clarity is not set for delayed charging. That's all I can think of right now. There is a Service Bulletin out for the Clarity PHEV 18-097, that has to do with incorrect charging when there are fluctuations in voltage from the charger. I doubt that's your problem, but something to consider?

Thank You for the reply. The TurboCord is plugged to a 240V 20A dedicated circuit; the blue light is on and the Clarity is not set for delayed charging. It seems like the pins are not connecting although the Clarity charges with other Level 1 and 2 chargers and the TurboCord charges our Volt and BMW 530e.

Maybe at this point you should give the EVSE manufacturer a call to see what they have to say about it?

Aerovironment sold their charger business to Webasto which has no on-line customer support function. I sent an email to Webasto but have not heard back.

Check the Hondalink app and see if "start charging" is an option (when plugged in) and maybe try hitting that and see if it starts. It should show that it is plugged in on the app separate from how it shows when it is charging so check to see if it even recognizes that it is plugged in.

Bummer. Your issue has no obvious explanation, especially since our TurboCord works ok. I suppose it's time to get a new Level 2 EVSE. Sounds like you would put it to good use, with 3 PHEVs!

It does not recognize that it is plugged in.

I already purchased a JuiceBox Pro 40 which will be installed next week for the Clarity. The Volt and 530e will share the TurboCord. I did hear back from Webasto; they just confirmed that they follow J1772 protocols and have never heard of a problem with a Clarity. I'm just curious why this TurboCord and this Clarity don't like each other.
