    Hello All,

We have been enjoying driving this car for just more than a month. But we found that the front emblem was stolen yesterday. I thought we are driving a Honda not a Mercedes or any other luxury brand. So a question for you all,

Can I purchase a front emblem from the website like this one and install by myself-https://www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine/honda~0~75710-trw-a01.html

Or just send the car to a dealer and ask them to fix it for us?

    Thanks!!

Call the parts guys, they may have some advice. If your dealer is customer focused, they may help you install it and have some tips to attach it more securely.

That covers the front radar. You'd have to order the same item as you are showing, check if that requires any calibration if it's replaced.

Wow to some idiot stealing it and wow on how much the replacement costs. Looks like they go for between $100 to $200 on Ebay. Makes me wonder if I should deface mine in such a way that no one would want to steal it. Won't look as good, but at least you avoid having a gaping hole on the front of your car and out of $300...which after replacement might get stolen again...

Sorry you are having to cope with this idiocy. It's hard to be sure from the small pic, whether or not they defaced or broke anything in the area, and wondering how they could remove it without causing any damage.

The ACC seems to be working correctly.
I'm not sure if automatic braking is still working as I don't want to really test it.
It seems that there is no damage other than the missing emblem. That's the reason why I'm wondering if I can install by myself.

This happened somewhere in north Atlanta.

I guess the good news is that it may be possible to remove the emblem without damaging or defacing the adjacent surfaces or mounting points, reducing the cost of repair. The bad news may be that its apparently easy to remove the emblem.

That's my thinking: thieves have found an easy-to-remove item that is untraceable but sell-able on ebay (to owners who've had them stolen).

And here I thought nobody was as excited as me to spot a rare Clarity around town! It's amazing how quickly criminals these days seize upon new opportunities. Yet another unintended consequence of the internet. Thank goodness the radar transponder doesn't come away with the cover so it's only a $300 loss!

We live in the city and people will come by and test you. This is a video clip from last Saturday. As you can see they are quick and unassuming, just looking for easy access. I installed a Ring camera in front of where I park the Clarity, it has a motion detector and a light that turns on when tripped. So, I don't know if he got spooked by the light or left since the door was locked. I also plan to install a dash camera soon.

According to a Forbes magazine article, the Honda Civic and Honda Accord are the 2 most stolen vehicles. They are stripped of the re-sellable parts that have a high demand because of the huge numbers of those models in use.

I wonder if a bead of silicone around the top and sides would make the emblem hard to get off casually but still removable if needed?

Of course Honda could immediately solve the emblem stealing issue by selling them for a reasonable MSRP of $40 instead of the obscene MSRP of $405.

Can’t believe how dishonest thieves are these days—as my dad would say.

Actually thought about how boring that piece is, for getting stolen, just last week. Not like you can hang it off a chain like a trophy. I’ve had a rear logo stolen once, with screwdriver scratches as a bonus.

Thinking maybe covering with piece of black vinyl might help.

Might not be able to get away with wrapping it. There’s a radar transceiver behind it.

That really sucks. I think thieves like to create a market for items by stealing enough of certain items. I think they did that with airbags. I wonder if the emblem is shared with other models because the clarity is low volume.

You could submit that to the police to help them. The detective unit might be looking for that guy.

People should put their key fob in a metal coffee can with foil on the lid and away from the windows and doors. Car thieves can relay the signal from the key fob to the car using a device. You could buy a faraday bag.

I don't know exactly what kind of mounting hardware is used to hold the emblem, but I'm baffled as to how it would be possible to remove it with the hood latched, without leaving any pry marks or damaged mounting points. Even with the hood open, the emblem attachment is buried deep within the structure. It the thief managed to do that, I think he should be a good candidate for a job with Honda.

An update - I purchased the emblem from the site mentioned above.
It's super easy to install, just push the emblem into the slot. It's so expensive though.... ~$300 including the shipping.

Easy to install - how easy to remove? Is it held in just with friction clips? The price is a bit insane.
