On the Clarity Facebook group someone mentioned they had SB 18-097 applied to address the charging fault errors that pop up if you are on an unclean public charger.

Anyone here hear anything about this one and if it's cumulative (since I haven't had the other two applied yet myself).

Here's the post from Facebook copy/pasted...

Just got a call from Honda dealer to come in for software update. Bulletin 18-097. It's supposedly to fix problem I have been having with my car -it stops charging and throws an error code every time I use a Blink public charging station at work. Anyone else already get the bulletin 18-097 update? BTW, I've already had the dealer do the Bulletin 18-069 update on the mileage issue.

Called two dealers today with no luck. Not even the HV range or multi system fixes. I received my car in July, so those may have been applied before I got my car.
I have been frustrated by the charging issue and waiting for the software update. The engine light and error message come on more frequently recently. I have been trying to restart the charging through the app, but most of the time it just refused to charge. Very annoying!

You won’t know for sure if the 3 available updates have been installed unless a dealer hooks up your Clarity to their i-HDS special diagnostic tool AND cares enough to be honest with you and willing to accept Honda’s reimbursement instead of just dismissing it.

I'm suspecting dyslexia. Known bulletin is 18-079.

I recently took my Clarity to the local dealer to have the HV range and the Multiple warning lights updates done. At first, the dealer said just because there is a Service Bulletin for something, Honda won't allow them to do the fix unless the customer has the issue that needs fixing. It has to be a "campaign" (recall). I got them to do the mileage fix after telling them that the car said I could drive 1000 miles on a 7-gallon tank of gas. But, no-go for the other issue since I did not experience the failure (yet).

I've been to my dealer about the charge problem so that is documented. Response was to wait for a software update.

I "think" I have the range fix update but not sure. I've never filled the tank (down to 2/3 today after having to fire up ICE) so not sure when the range issue shows up. In my case the HV range has been in the 300s from the beginning and now down to 275. Does it manifest only after a fill-up?

You won't know if you have the update until you finally put gas in your Clarity. Last weekend, after 10 months, I finally put gas (it took just 5.5 gallons) in our Clarity the day before I was taking it in for the updates. The HV range went to 1000 miles, as expected. When I picked it up after the HV range update, the HV range was the same 357 miles reported by others on this great forum.

The first thing I did as I left the dealer's lot was push past the click to start the engine ON PURPOSE! My long months of "engine anxiety" were finally at an end.

Thanks for updating us on the update. I was wondering why they skipped 2 numbers. Now my OCD side is happy.

I went to the dealer for several items that needed fixing today. Among other things, I complained about the random stopping of charging at level 2 stations. I also read the DTC code with a scanner (P0D3D/P03D09) several days ago and told the service advisor about it, hoping that they can find an update faster if one exists. I was told when everything is done that there was an update for each item I came in for except the rattling noise (which supposedly is gone when they did the test drive after updates).

Note that there is a "charging system update" listed on my summary of service, in addition to "pcm update" (for the emission error and multiple system warning message), and "gauge cluster update" (for HV range).

No SB number given anywhere (the only one listed, SB 18-079, was provided to them by me when I described the issues l had), so l don't know if the charging system update is really applied (or even available to begin with), but my HV range is indeed fixed so l will give them the benefit of doubt for now on the charging update. That’s a disorder caused by buying an overpriced Lexus, right?
