  1. Ok, I don't know about you all, but for me, this VW I.D. Buzz Cargo is awesome. And 111 kWh battery? Take my (mostly hypothetical) money!

Seems like 111 kWh isn't the only battery option, either, with mention of 48 kWh pack. Still, the big one should give you a 300+ mile range under the EPA test (550 km (342 miles) under WLTP cycle).

It has a solar roof, apparently, for up to 15 km (9.3 miles) of additional range a day
It can take up to 800 kg (1763.7 pounds) of cargo.

DC fast charging max speed of 150 kW sounds pretty nice too.

And just look at it!

Perhaps VW can hire Bob Lutz to promote it as the Tesla killer?

With respect, I've seen MicroBus sized VW announcements for a long, long time but no product. It would be faster to buy a legacy MicroBus and convert it yourself.

  4. This will be built on the MEB platform, following on after the first couple vehicles to be built on it. Might only be 2020 or 21, sadly. The I.D. hatchback should be out by the end of next year, though.

I understand the frustration with VW's electric execution. Still, it certainly looks like they're moving forward. Had they followed their original plan and used a platform that could handle ICE and electric, I'd be less enthusiastic.

Looks promising. I hope it won't remain as a concept.
