Anyone know where best to put a NY EZ Pass tag on clarity? I am concerned since there is a camera on back of rear view mirror which might get blocked with tag. Thanks.

I hang my handicap hang tag from my mirror and it does not interfere with the Honda Sense camera mounted directly to the windshield. Hope this helps. What camera do you have on the back of your rear view mirror?

I put mine to the right of the camera behind the rearview camera. The area that has black dots on the windshield.

The camera is built in to the mirror itself. I believe it's on the driver side of the back of mirror.

  6. Stand in front of the car and look for the camera lens. I suspect that it's impossible to block the camera by mounting something else to the windshield.

The sensor on the driver side, back of the mirror is a light sensor for auto-dimming mirror and not the camera. You can put the ezpass above the black boxy thing behind the mirror that is glued to the windshield

They offer an ezpass that goes on the front license plate. You may have to get longer screws if you have a license plate frame.

Will the ezpass register if it's attached on the windshield black dot grid or does it need to be just below the dots? Thanks!

I have it on the black dots. From the driver seat, I can see the word "E-Z Pass". That's how high I got mine. No issue crawling through the toll booth at HT, LT, NJTP.

Audi’s new etron EV suv, being officially announced this week, has a toll device embedded in the rear view mirror. It’s compatible with EZ Pass, SunPass, and other systems. This is the beginnnig of the end of having these ridiculous devices stuck on our windshields.

You wouldn't have called them ridiculous devices then they first came out--they were miracles.

That’s correct. But they are ridiculous now because they are anachronisms. They are a 1987 technology, still in use 31 years later for no good reason. My first Sony Walkman cassette player was a revelation, but I would look pretty ridiculous sporting one today.

to the right of the camera (so on passenger side)? We tried holding it up today in the black dot area and it didn't register, but there may be a problem with that transponder. thanks!

Yes, maybe, but first you'd have to find a 1987 Walkman cassette player that still works (or even a cassette tape, for that matter). My toll tag from 1987 still works perfectly, and it hasn't required any maintenance in 30+ years while using it in several vehicles over that period -- not even a battery to replace (because it is a beam-powered tag, no battery required).

I don't like sticking things to the windshield, and afraid the black dots will get damaged if I try to remove the 3m glue. I prefer suction cups, but they don't work on the black dots.

The 18 Ody for example has black dots but are part of the windshield so suction cups works perfectly.

True about that. I'm not thrilled about the glue. They're sending me a new transponder & I may see if holding it up works. E-Z Pass assured me that if the transponder doesn't read they'll go by my plate AND that discounts still apply. Hopefully the latter is true.

If you 'hold it' I noticed it works but only if you hold it in the proper position and not upside down. In those cases, they went by plate and I had no issues. I do have a Mass E-Z Pass though (which by the way it has zero fees). Don't care about the state discounts since we only the toll roads on long trips.
