    The other day, GM announced a pretty robust-sounding EV production program with 20 different models (thread here), using a photo of a Bolt with nine shrouded vehicles in the background.

    Now, a closer look at those cars -- presumably representative of the future vehicles in the announcement -- reveals a sporty coupe-shaped vehicle.

    While it may be too early to definitively say this is a vehicle GM is bringing to market, it's not too early to discuss if they should. Most sporty coupes don't move a lot of numbers, but they can be a sort of halo for a brand by building on a reputation for performance that can rub off on high-volume models, increasing interest in family-mobiles.

    GM still prefers large displacement and superchargers over turbos, so it will be sort of funny when they skip right over turbos and produce a sporty EV. I think they should do it. Every manufacturer should do it. Tesla beating Ferrari at the drag strip always turns heads. Gotta dethrone petrol where it counts- the track. But as long as the Leaf is being made, it will be hard for EVs to shake the slow/ugly stigma ;)

    It would be a win for the consumer if they did...A better discussion is how much performance should it have and at what price point? Would you pay $50K for a Chevy coupe that is about as quick as a V8 Camaro? If not, what if it was a Buick or Cadillac?

    If I could take a Vegas bet, I'd bet against this...

    Bro1999 mentioned on this story it looks like Camaro based Avista concept which caused me to research...

    Saw this: "Camaro Designers Were Apparently Shocked By The Stunning Buick Avista", "Buick Says the Avista Concept Definitely Won't Be Produced"...The Camaro is macho, the Avista is sleek like a Tesla and GM reportedly paid Millions, under Lutz, to study Tesla...I could totally see the end game, like the Volt/Velite 5 and the ICE CT6/CT6 PHEV...The ICE versions will continue to be built in America while the Camaro based Buick Avista EV is built in China offered to both China and the States...

    GM could solve all their dealership problems if they simply make Buick the exclusive EV/PHEV GM option...

    That Avista looks pretty nice, actually. If you could get strong sportscar-like performance, but keep that GT appearance, it could work.

    I greatly prefer the looks of a two door coupe but do understand if you could give this things four doors it would have a greater appeal...

    Even with my strong bias against GM, I like it. Wish Tesla had a 2 door (with backseat, that is!)

    Thanks for sharing, there's technically two low roofs EV, "low roof car" and "lux low roof"...Also of note, perhaps the "low roof car" is the only possible "car" as all other are SUV and two vans...Yet if the image is a somewhat accurate representation of vehicles segment, it still looks like a SUV with four doors...It could very well be basically the Bolt with a chopped roof...
