After recovering from the production delays, Tesla’s Model 3 has once again reverted to delivery setbacks and customer service issues due to the rise in the delivery volumes at an amazing momentum.

People started searching for other brands. Here is a list of top eleven Tesla Model 3 contenders: https://news.alphastreet.com/top-eleven-tesla-model-3-contenders/

Here is the simple issue, are the manufacturers committed to selling quality products in high enough volumes at competitive prices to seriously challenge Tesla. Till so far it is has been mainly sabre rattling, no one has committed to say producing 20,000 EV's a month and willingness to ramp up and to invest in charging networks. GM, Ford, BMW, Nissan have had over priced options that did not catch on. I welcome and hope that competition comes but they must be willing to put money where there mouth is. Jaguar and Audi may be eyeing the Tesla S market, and the only one that has given a date for a US launch is Jaguar (Nov 1st as of today). Even if they introduce EV's, can they produce it in sufficient quantities to get traction in the market. Time will tell if other brands can make an impact.

    Right on target, thanks!

Would the sales of all 11 of those "contenders" added together equal the current sales of the Model 3? How about the rate of Model 3 sales at the end of this year?

I was flabbergasted to find that after all the recent high-profile promotion of the Jaguar I-Pace, all the big talk about how it's competing head-to-head with the Tesla Model X, Jaguar has yet to sell even one single I-Pace in the U.S.! In all fairness I expect them to within another month or two, but I'm amazed that Jaguar would spend so much effort and money to promote a car in the U.S.; a car which isn't yet even available here.

    Here is the article link
    https://news.alphastreet.com/top-eleven-tesla-model-3-contenders/

I went back through that list of 11 and found it to be amusing. Badly researched article, put together without thought. The writer has no clue on EV's, he/she is totally ignorant. You want to have a laugh, read the article. Here are comments on 4 of 11 cars, and I have also quoted from the the article(in italics). My comments in bold

    1) Volkswagen I.D. Volkswagen I.D. Concept vehicles are likely to give a stiff competition to Model 3. Volkswagen will be launching the first hatchback called Neo in 2020
WHAT!!!!!!!!! It is supposed to be Tesla Model 3 killer and it is coming out 2 years from now.

    2) Chevy Bolt EV
General Motors (GM) is gearing up for the release of its only all-electric car, Chevy Bolt EV.

WHAT!!!!!!!!! I thought Bolt had been available for at least 2 years. The article is dated yesterday.

    3) Smart Fortwo Electric Drive The cheapest EV, Smart Fortwo Electric Drive, could stand as the main competitor of Model 3 when considered price as the main factor.

Really!!!!!!! Smart Car a competitor to a mid size sedan with so many advanced features. If a person is so price sensitive, and they want a $20,000 car, they are not going to be looking at a Tesla. ROFLOL

    4) Ford Focus Electric. Ford (F) has not been left behind in the competition as its Focus Electric also fights for a place in the electric mobility market.

Really!!!!!!! When I asked my Ford dealer, he said then only have to special order them and that Ford is not pushing those cars

Frankly, I just looked at the URL, noted it was a stock investment site, and didn't bother to follow the link. I've gotten tired of all the B.S. in those blog posts mis-labeled as "articles", written by self-appointed financial experts who are usually almost entirely clueless about the EV market segment of the auto industry. Besides, those blog posts are written with the intent of pushing a certain stock buying or selling position, not with the intent of giving accurate or even honest facts and figures.

 That is indeed exceptionally clueless, even for one of those investor blog posts masquerading as an article!

That is true; Ford makes on only when a customer specifically orders one. Or at least, that was the situation. Didn't I read recently that Ford is discontinuing the Ford Focus Electric? Looking at the latest InsideEVs Monthly Plug-in Sales Report, I see that monthly sales of the FFE dropped from a range of 46-137 previously this year, to only 7 last month. Somehow, I don't think Tesla is all too worried about competition from the FFE!

    I left this comment:

Thank you! I've bought shares of Tesla because the abysmal ignorance of this article and other anti-Musk/Tesla articles and advocates. As a general rule of thumb, betting against the ignorant is an excellent policy.

The original article said Focus Electric also fights for a place in the electric mobility market. If there are selling selling only 7 a month, they are fighting for place in the electric mobility market (whatever that means). The place they are fighting for is the "last" place, in other words it is a race to the bottom for Ford. :D

Of this list 11, Tesla may be worried about 2-3 at the best, the rest will also-rans, vaporware, pie in the sky, compliance nonsense, pretenders (not contenders). How on earth can anyone even contemplate that Smart Car will even pose an existential threat to Tesla Model 3. By this logic, the regular Smart Car which is is $15,000 should be a competitor to the BMW 3 series. I am not sure even the manufacturers will consider them as competitors. It gave me a good laugh about the ignorance out there.
