Well another first for me and from a place I didnt expect... McDonalds drive through. The young man at the pay window says "Ive never seen your car before I was looking at it wondering what it could be". I asked well what did it look like ... He says "looked like a spaceship from the future ". Told him cool it's just a Honda lol.

So much for Clarity being ugly with that comment.

Anyways what have other strangers said to you guys? Would like to hear it good or bad.

I've had two guys, at gas stations, tell me they like the Clarity.

Why does every review on youtube start with "It looks so ugly!" I don't get it. I'm not saying it's an extremely sexy machine, but it certainly has an aggressive stance head on, and pleasing from the side and back. I really don't understand why people think it's ugly.
Then again I think Gen 2 Prius is a "cute" car. Again not really sexy, but certainly aesthetically pleasing.

I'm with you. While external looks are not very important to me I've never thought the Clarity is ugly. Furthermore it's growing on me and I now think it's rather good looking.

You have to see the car in motion and in person. Looks like a futuristic luxury car in motion due to the size.

My wife loves it because we go downtown a lot to eat and I have to park some distance away, so when I go get the car to pick her up on the street, she can tell when I'm coming down the road because the headlights and running lights are so distinctive.

@weave, yeah that really aggressive M shape of the running lights is so unique. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before.

It is of course mostly because of the rear wheel cover. I think most people think that is very ugly. Other than that area, I think the car looks pretty good.

Be careful with that... I now think my 2014 Leaf is not bad looking, and I still remember how ugly I thought they were when they first came out. You get "owner blindness"!

I was a skeptic about the car before I purchased but when I first saw it in person I thought it was a futuristic looking great car. My adult children call it the spaceship not only for its looks but the faux sound it makes at very low speeds.

My friend calls it the George Jetson car. A car salesman friend said he liked the look. Others have also reacted positively. the bottom line is that I absolutely love the car. I like the look because it compliments what the car is by design. An advanced performance and efficient machine that has great features and technology and is also a joy to drive. It's very cool to have such a strong electric motor/battery without the high price tag of a Tesla.

Completely agree with your statement! Everyone who knows me, knew that I was planning on getting the Model 3. Now, I explain my reasoning when they ask why it did not work out. For me it came down to the following list:

    1. Price - $50,000+ versus under $37,000. I did not feel comfortable paying $800 per month.
    2. Quality / Reliability - I somewhat trust Honda's engineering a little more than what Tesla currently produces, even with this somewhat new tech.
    3. Parts availability - There are three (3) versions of the Clarity which have a lot of parts in common with each other. Tesla owners wait 6+ months for parts.
    4. Nearest Service Center distance (2+ hours) - I have a local Honda dealer as well as others in close proximity.

The Clarity also has a nice interior, is roomy and has modern safety features and tech. When people see my car, they completely agree with me and think I made the right choice.

Sure, it is not a 100% electric car or will get the ladies to turn their heads - however, for my purposes about 95% of my driving will be done in all electric mode. What more can you ask for?

Honda really did a great job with the Clarity and I am trying to educate the people around me as much as I can about PHEV. I have a remote co-worker who is coming down to the office next week, who asked for a ride / demo of the vehicle.

I'm sure we'll have another believer by the end of next week... :)

I think the Clarity is a good looking car, especially from the front. I'm not too sure about the rear, but it looks fine. I used to have the first gen Nissan Leaf, and I never got used to that "frog" look from the front.

I've posted elsewhere too that the owner of a local Mexican restaurant came over to our table one evening and complimented us on the nice looking Clarity. He then went out to the parking lot and looked it over. I would not be at all surprised to see another Clarity in that lot sometime ;)

I think the Clarity looks much better in person than in pictures. I've actually had more people comment on and compliment this car than any other car I've ever owned.

Everyone just asks me if it’s an accord. They must not think it’s too weird.

On a long road trip, three days after getting my car, I pulled into a gas station for my six-gallon fill-up (anyone else amazed at the amount of time it takes to fill this car’s gas tank?)! It was nighttime and my running lights/head lights were on. I see this twentysomething making his way into the convenience store and he suddenly yells out to his friend, who was pumping gas into his car at the next island, “Dude! Check out this car! Man, that is one nice lookin’ ride!” He then asked me what kind of car it was. The daytime Lights are so distinctive, giving the Clarity a smart, edgy look. I swelled with pride while at the same time thinking, I wonder if this guy had seen those wheel skirts? Given the nighttime lighting and the moonlit forest pearl green color, he probably hadn’t. Nonetheless the positive feedback was the first I’ve ever gotten from a stranger for a car—ever. I’ve always liked the Clarity’s look from the front and back... i’m not too keen on the wheel skirts but, overall, I like the look of the car.

I love the look of the Clarity and I've never understood why so many reviews say it is an ugly car. Actually I am somewhat embarrassed by how cool the car looks because I think it stands out more than I would like it to! I get a lot of looks and comments from clients about my car and how awesome it is. :)

  23. I had a streetside valet flag me to roll down my window to ask about my Clarity - took it as a compliment as I was in front of a relatively nice restaurant!
