A co-worker just got an offer from SiriusXM (for an older used vehicle he just purchased from a dealer) 3 years of service for around $100 U.S. They also offered 5 years for around $150. I called SiriusXM today and spoke to someone from a far away country who was not very helpful... didn’t even get close to that deal. 1 year for $100 was the best she could do. Anyone got some inside information on how to get the best deals for service?

The best standing offers are either 5 months for $25 or 6 months for $60 for Select. You can also get All Access (which includes streaming) for $50 for 6 months.

Just call and say you want to cancel. They'll offer you 1 year for $100 but decline. Eventually, they'll offer you one of the two above.

If you are currently on a trial, you should be offer the above offers as a one time. But after that, just call to cancel and get it again. Been doing this since 2012.

I have heard it is difficult to cancel siriusxm once you have started service. does anyone have any experience with this?

If Sirius has your credit card number, they will always automatically charge you. You are responsible to cancel the account. Not “difficult” to cancel the account, but you will nearly always have to endure attempts at sales during your cancellation call. Tip: If you don’t understand the representative due to language barrier issues... It has been my experience to request a rep from the United States, and they quickly make this happen. Good luck.

I went with the 1year for approximately $120 that includes taxes and fees which they don't put in the advertised price. Comes out to about $10/month for in car XM only, no streaming. I then set a reminder in my Google calendar to cancel two weeks prior to my renewal date.

Been doing $25 for 5 months or $30 for 6 months since 2012 for Select (no streaming). You can also get All Access with streaming for $50 for 6 months. It only takes 5 minutes to call. Just say cancel and when the rep answers simply say you will only renew for this offer. They always try to give you the $120 for a year. Just say no, and they'll give you the above.

I'm not sure I'll renew at all. Before I got this car (which is my first experience with XM) I just streamed Tune-In stations on my phone. There's some commercial free stations out there that are quite good, including the English BBC radio stations (which have different genres). Cellular data is so good these days that I can drive 200 miles without a single dropout -- which is actually quite better than SXM since I often have to deal with it dropping out when I go through various mountain passes with high sides to them, or under some tunnels (although curiously SXM works quite well under the Baltimore tunnels -- they must have repeaters in there...)

  10. I got my trial when bought my Jeep (not free trial, but a small mandatory fee added to the "upgraded" audio package). After it's ended, they kept calling me to offer me renewal until I told them I changed to an aftermarket headunit (indeed I changed to an Android headunit) which doesn't support your service.
