Has anyone seen 0-60 times with non high roll tires? The base tires are there for higher mpg but I was wondering how fast it can really go. I sometimes get wheel spon from a dead stop. I doubt I would change the tires but just curious if anyone here saw a review.
Not sure about acceleration but high performance tires will markedly improve handling and stopping distances but at the cost of EV range and mileage. Heck, anyone can improve their ICE car mileage by replacing tires with low resistance tires but almost no one does. I'm definitely going to high performance A/S tires when it's time to replace.
Most likely performance tires will hurt acceleration unless you get something lighter (which they won't be). I rarely see meaningful wheel spin.
PS, I would get performance tires for handling and braking though, but expect a slight hit to acceleration unless you get something lighter (which usually conflicts with performance grip and handling).
Better question would be what is the range difference between energy saver vs regular all season vs performance a/s
With the excellent EV range and HV mileage, I'd say that's worth the cost. I just took our Clarity out on a very hilly, windy road with tight switchbacks and speed limits far higher than they should be. The Clarity was very well planted and handled far better than I expected. I was nervous though, knowing those Energy Saver tires could lose traction without warning (that's how reviewers describe them) causing a spin out. Will definitely install high performance A/S tires, sooner rather than later. The car's suspension can perform far better than OEM tire's capability, and that makes them potentially hazardous if you drive enthusiatically.
