A month or so ago I reported people complaining of background noise on my Iphone 8+ when connected via Bluetooth. After much back and forth the dealer finally got approval from Honda to replace the Infotainment Head unit which is an unbelievable $3,500 part per Honda. I guess that is where the Bluetooth controller resides.

Yesterday I had the dealer do the swap and run the SB on the HV range as well. Happy to report that all is well. Calls are now just as clear as when using the phone via Car Play. And the HV range is now showing a reasonable number vs the 1,000 miles I had been seeing.

Had to reset a bunch of settings to get the car back to the way it was but no big deal.

This has been a scary thought for me in that in the past, if a radio died, we could plug in a new after-market radio. With the Prius, if the tablet goes dead, $3500 would be an obscene cost to repair it.

If that ever happens and I have to pay that much, it will be the last Honda I ever own. That is outrageous and the thought that they would put a price on this part of that magnitude makes me kind of concerned that one day I will regret buying this car.

Happy that they fixed it, and thanks for sharing, but I have to say that I am appalled by some of the info in your post.

Not sure if you knew but if you ever damage a wheel, it will cost $1100 to replace I believe due to the resonance damper that runs along the center of the wheel.

If a wheel gets damaged, insurance would pay for it.

If your radio breaks, you are on the hook for the whole thing (after warranty of course).

Psst... don't tell Eddgie about the key fob... :)

I agree. Out of warranty/no insurance repairs are going to be expensive with this car.

And this is why I opted for an extended warranty. I never got one on any other car I've owned, but felt it was prudent on this one.

Honda corporate says it's is my cell phone's fault, not the car. Now the dealership is telling me to buy a new cell phone to fix the incapability of my cell phone with their handsfree system.
